Most around here don't accept them on Saturday. It looks like I found a few further inside Houston.

The Barbara Jordan Post Office downtown accepts passports until 11 AM. According to several reviews online, it's a great post office with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Isn't that a paradox! Haha.

Thanks. Yeah, I have the DS-11 application, the certified birth certificate copy, passport photos, and copy of my driver's license.

http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/

I would HIGHLY suggest calling before going.

I have owned a Passport expediting service since 1997. If you are in no hurry, going thru the post office is the way to go.

Yeah, that's what I used. They weren't accepting applicants at the Barbara Jordan post office, so I had to go to the Houston Public Library Central location.

I am in the same situation. I have everything ready, just need to find a place to take it. Don't need to get it expedited as I don't need it for a couple months.

The problem is that you have to set up an appointment with the usps and they hardly have any openings.

**** sucks and is a pain in the ***.

Keep in mind you have to do this the first time. Once you have a passport and need to renew you don't have to go to the post office (unless you lose your passport).

You don't have to make an appointment at every acceptance facility, only some of them.

Do a wide search, and you'll find some that don't require an appointment.

Oh. I showed up to the Houston Public Library Central yesterday and submitted my application. From the moment I signed in, I had to wait about two hours before I was paged. The application submittal process didn't take but 10-15 minutes or so. But, yeah, calling ahead of time is definitely a good idea. If I called the first place, it would have saved me a lot of trouble.
