Default New Guy In Austin

Well not yet, but I'll be there next week!

Life time Connecticut resident moving out of my dads house (finally, I'll be 26 on Friday!) and making the trek down to Austin. I'm bringing with me a cam only 99 T/A and a 98 Regal GS with a couple bolt ons and a smaller pulley, none are show worthy but both could use a fresh tune, what's my best bet?

Also are there any weekly/monthly/anything get togethers in the area that are worth going to and not filled with ricers?

Go easy on me fellas!

Best tune in Austin is Brian at Reckart performance tuning. He is in north Austin
Www.reckartperformancetuning.com. Does great work with in house dyno. Couple meets around on Saturdays. One at cabellas south of town and one at schlotzkis at 1431 and 183 north of town

Fixed it.

Welcome. There are the two meets already mentioned plus Cars and Coffee once a month in Leander which normally has a large turnout.

+1 on Reckart Performance Tuning. I'm there a couple times a month for one reason or another.

Thanks for the info guys, once I break in my clutch/tranny looks like I'm calling Reckart, heard nothing but good things about them around the forum and my car so desperately needs a tune!

Also, how are the cops out there about loud exhausts? My setup is currently dumb loud, do y'all get singled out or do you have to go looking for trouble to get pulled over? Emissions too, I haven't even checked into it like I should, I know TX has inspections but I'm not sure about emissions regulations, if any.

And as you can see, everyone here thinks they are a comedian.

About the loud exhaust, stay away from Williamson County Sheriff's Dept and if you don't have a front plate, stay away from DPS too.

For the most part, those two agencies don't cut enthusiasts a lot of slack.

Travis County Sheriff and APD are more chill.

In all seriousness, Reckart does a great job. He tuned my last setup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhx03oKTbFQ

As far as emissions, as long as you're not throwing any codes, or more than two "not ready's" then you'll pass. I passed with H/C/I, no MAF, true duals dumped under rear end, no cats... granted the person doing the inspection didn't do a visual inspection under the car.

Welcome to Austin, I hope to be out in my pile in a few months, along with a host of other 900+hp cars/trucks that are down right now.
