It also allows the companies to drop there plan and pay a tax (pentaly) which is cheaper then the health plan they hold. Then what. Into the gov. system. Canada has about 30 million people on their system. Guess what it doesn't work. How will a 320+ million people system work.

Add that with all of the trashy *** Americans who refuse to insure themselves then skip out on their medical bills and here we are. High insurance costs and high medical expenses. My wife's uncle (who is a doctor) stopped delivering babies 20+ years ago, because the malpractice insurance had gone through the roof because of all of the lawsuits in the industry. A lot of people (mostly trash) will sue over ANYTHING.
Man, talk about hitting it right on the money. Couldn't agree more (and I'm hispanic). My wife (who is also hispanic) goes off about that everyday she comes back from LBJ.

I play a lot of tennis here in Florida. Many of the retirees are Canadian. Here are the reviews I get from them. They all are glad to have the plan and they all get what they need, but most cases they often have to wait for non-essential surgeries. Nobody waits for essential surgeries. They have great and readily available preventive medicine. And, of course people with money can still get whatever they want privately.

Most of the "socialized medicine" horror stories are told by partisan Americans, not actual citizens of these other countries. They usually get away with it because, compared to say European citizens, Americans are pretty isolated. As you get into more rural areas, the more culturally isolated Americans are and the less likely they are to have actual exposure to people from other countries. So, any story or fabrication can get traction because there is nobody with first hand experience to dispute it.

Also, lets not forget, Canada is just one of the majority of modern countries that has socialized medicine (which is not what the healthcare reform bill is). Western Europe has many countries with excellent systems. Those systems have better care for less money.

Since when does America pick the worst example in the world and say we should expect to do worse than that country? If we are thinking we should elect people to run our government who say we should expect anything the government does to fail, what the heck are we thinking. How about picking people who say they can make government work better and show us a plan to do it.
