Default Stolen SS in Dallas - FOUND

An update to my thread about my SS that was stolen two weeks ago in Dallas....Last week they found my truck abandoned in parking lot in neighborhood off Jim Miller, south of I-30. Truck wasn't too bad. They got my wheels (22 in custom powder coated black SS wheels), all onstar equipment, and some damage to bumper, windshield, etc.

If you see any 22 in black SS wheels, they are probably mine. Wouldn't be surprised if they are on some piece of **** car so should stand out. Since the police don't do ****, get at me directly so I can deal with getting them back myself.

Also, if anyone is parting out a SS, I'm looking for some parts for my truck to get it back up and running. I need the onstar computer (brain), onstar rear view mirror, onstar antenna shark fin and misc panels and interior.

Im guessing your onstar equipment was removed before you knew if it was stolen?

If you've got full coverage insurance I'd recommend requesting they total it. There is a reason people say "drive it like you stole it". You probably don't want it back. Before too long you'll start to have issues with a lot of things and you may end up repairing it quite often.

If you don't have documentation for the wheels and the wheels aren't serial numbered, all you'll do is end up in jail if you try to retrieve them yourself. People get shot for stealing wheels all the time. It would be a shame if you got shot trying to recover your own property.

Why won't your insurance cover your stolen parts (besides the wheels)?

More than likely they will cover them but he may be trying to get the parts himself to save some $$$. Unless there's a good reason why the TBSS is undriveable they will not total it.

Well yea if he can get it cheaper than his deductible. I am pretty sure Onstar equipment is much more than $500 even used.

You can find the onstar stuff but you can't just move it from one car to another there is a ton of setup work required at the dealer level due to onstar accts, vehicle phone numbers and VIN's the onstar module is registered to. It's a major PITFA. I dread having to deal with onstar setups.
