Stacy, the owner of the UGR car that went 224 in the 1/2 mile did it at an event where I believe there was a rolling start. Cody Whitehead ran 217 at the Houston 1/2 mile event, I believe that is the fastest I've heard of from a stand still. However, the fastest UGR car has run 250 mph in the mile, I believe that car went approximately 210 through the 1/2. 250 is a long way off from 278. This Ford GT picks up 63 mph in the last 1/2 mile, I don't think I've seen anything quite like it. Insanity in its most beautiful form.

I was working with the M2K Motorsports Team all weekend mainly as support for the C7 they brought, but their Ford GT is just insane. The popping and surging is the traction control doing its thing, which is basically pulling all the power out so that the car doesn't overpower the tires "too much".
As far as the engine, it seems to run and sound good. The catch cans need to be bigger as when the engine is at higher RPM's at that level of acceleration.. the oil cannot drain back fast enough into the dry sump scavenging system and then it fills the catch cans on the fast runs. It made a mess so that is why it was not run very long afterwards. I'm sure it will be freshened up for the next Mile event they attend though.
