It’s back home. An LS7 with a dip stick, a 24X reluctor, all new rings, bearings, wet sump conversion with a trap door kit. I still need to set the ride height on the coil overs and tighten everything up underneath. I decided to get another transmission so I can keep my current one with the original engine. That’s ordered as well as the exhaust. I ended up going with the 4” Mufflex with the Magnaflow muffler. I think that the only parts that I need are a pilot bearing and the throw out bearing kit. I have also collected up on my coil relocation items. Things are going pretty good so far. All I have to do now is swap out the engine/K-Member. I am sure that is super easy...

Thanks. I had a real good day with parts. I got my transmission and exhaust in today. The exhaust is HUGE! The merge pipe picture doesn’t do it justice.

I installed the clutch and flywheel last night. I started test fitting the exhaust to see how it will mate up. It was a little bent up on a couple of flanges but it was easy to correct that. I can’t wait to hear this car run.

Great work and its certainly nice to see another LS7 powered 4th Gen that's not too far from home. You definitely would want to keep the CME provision on the SS. I was fortunate enough to purchase the 3" stainless CME from 6LE Designs before things went South and its a quality piece. The KOOKS off-road true dual is already known for being loud but I really don't think its that loud at all. I love the sound of my car through the CME tips versus without them. Totally different sound and its actually quieter inside the car with it than without it. I really need to spend some $$ on a good sound system though.

Thanks. Can you post some pictures from under your hood (I almost said “frumunda”)? I would like to see your water pump and belt alignment. With this intake I am going to have to use the LS7 water pump. The balancer that came with the wet sump conversion lines up perfect with it, but it looks like my power steering pump is off some. Thanks.

Thanks for the picture. I had to do some work to get the MSD Intake to work with it. It also made me realize that I the wrong balancer. My wet sump conversion kit came with the Corvette one. I ordered the LS1 balancer from ATI so I should have it next week. I did get another rack in pinion and used it as a core for a rebuild one. I just bolted it to the K Member. When the balancer gets here I will finish up with the accessories and turn the engine around and bolt up the transmission. Then, I will bolt the engine to the K Member and I will be ready to do the swap. I have watched a bunch of videos on how to do it. All I need now is a couple of strong guys and I think I can get it done.

I've dropped the engine a few times and I've even had to do the job with just floor jacks and an engine hoist. I will say the lift makes the job much easier for sure.

Hey. It’s been a while but I have made some progress. I had way too many issues with things fitting and it set me back a couple of weeks. Now, finally, I have the engine, transmission, and k member all bolted together and ready to install. I hope to get a couple of friends together very soon so I can finally get this installed.

Thanks. We just worked on the 2 hottest days of the year. Now a “Cold Front” has blown in. I love Houston. A cold front is 95. We almost had it all the way in late yesterday. I needed 1 vacuum fitting but I didn’t have it. This is a lot of work for 2 old guys. Hopefully my friend can stop by tonight and we can bolt in the k member. We are this close:

Good luck my young friend. These cars can be a handful too work on without a lift. I was trying to figure out how to get my 4” Mufflex system in there today. It’s so big that you could run the driveshaft inside it. Best of luck with your project. These cars have so much potential. I just bought my daughter a 2018 V6 RS for her 16th birthday. Her car looks huge next to mine.

This was a little extra work but I wanted the coils hid but still acceptable. I had to cut the overflow bottle out and make a custom bracket to use another style and relocate it behind the headlight. The engine bay looks a lot better now. I even relocated that bulky wiring harness on the passenger side fender to clean it up some more.

Since it’s a 100% street car I went with a Lingenfelter 100mm MAF.

I did get the interior all put back together. I must say that the transmission seems to shift a lot better than the original one even though I was test driving a car that doesn’t run.

Thanks for the kind words. I will let you drive it when I’m done. I have another car that I am building right now that I am going to beat on. I am just going to use the SS to drive to work and play with the rich dude’s in Sugar Land. The car has already surprised some high dollar “exotic” cars over here, including an R8, but I think that when it’s finished now some people will be very unhappy.
