I dont think so, I asked the same question a while back and was told you have to go to the court house and give your top 5 plates and they then tell you which are available of your 5 through mail.

On the form I was given, they only let you have 3 spaces to show what you want. Then you had to wait or like 2 weks and you would get in the mail which is available.

Get one of your local police officers to run the plate you want. You can find out in a few minutes if the plate is registered. It's a 10-28 btw.

The first thing you need to do is to make a list of several possibilities, then call TX-DOT at 512-465-7611. Tell whoever answers that you want to check on the availability of a personalized plate name. There is one guy that answers the phone there (John) that is a real dick and will only let you ask about 5 plate names at a time. Other individuals there will let you ask about as many names as you want.

Because TX has so many vehicles with personalized plates in the state, chances are VERY HIGH that most selections related to "SS", "LS1", etc. are already taken, so you need to be creative!

Good luck!

yep, there is a phone number on the top of the 2nd page of that form you have to mail in (with a check for $40). Call it, get to the personalized plate branch, and ask. If you are very polite with them, they will typically help you out.

Have them in order of preference already before calling. If you get three that aren't taken, don't waste their time about asking about others. Works every time.

My new plates for the Vette just showed up. 3TT3V

hint: look at Tony's plate in the mirror

I want to get some personal plates too,
Does it make any difference if you try to get them before/after you need to get the reg. sticker?

its better to get them before that way you dont have to pay for your reg again when you get the plates..
