What should I sand my car with??

Default What should I sand my car with??

I wanna start sanding down my 67 camaro but I dont know what grit to use. Its not cleared or anything, basically just paint on metal. Any suggestions. Thanks guys.

Well are you trying to sand the paint off, or smooth it out?

use 400 grit sandpaper

If you're just trying to smooth out some surface scratches, I'd wet sand 1500 or 2000 grit. Anything rougher than that and you're getting out of my league.

use 100 grit to get the paint of if not just go have it sand blasted it's a little more but worth it

Don't they make chemical strippers that make sanding unnecessary? I've seen paint (clear coat and all) come off with just a wipe with a chemical stripper.
