Also, how hard is a gear swap? Plan on going 4.56 or 4.88 from a 4.10 and was wondering if I should have that done as well or do it myself? I live in Alvin which is roughly 30 miles south of Houston, would like to keep it somewhat close. Don't mind driving to or around Houston for quality work? I'm looking for a repuatable shop, thanks.

I'll need new axles or can the ones I have be shorten? The rear end is fairly new with maybe a couple hundred miles and roughly 50 passes.

You can send them back to Moser or Strange and have them shortened. Moser charges $85.00 and axle plus freight up and back.

I just got off the phone with Strange and they said if I were to narrow the rear end 3 inches per side, I wouldnt be able to cut my axles as there are only 3 inches of teeth on the axle and that I would have to order a new pair. A new pair is gonna run me about $400 and then $60 for a pair of new bearings. I didnt realize axles were that expensive. If I would of known that I was going this route with the car, I would of had my rear end built with this way. He asked me for my zip code and told me that I could give Clear Lake Speed a call and Pyle Brothers in Baytown. He said they do rear end work.

Thats cool. Just make sure they use a jig when the housing is narrowed. Pyle bros has a jig as do I.

Oh no, I wasn't saying that I'm going to either one of those shops, I'll probably head your way when the money becomes available. I was just letting you know what Strange told me. Is your pricing about the same as if I was to buy it direct from Strange or cheaper? Will I need new bearings or is Strange just trying to sell me something I dont need? Also, do you warranty the narrowing? What's the standard amount of narrowing? I've seen 3 inches per side with 5" backspacing on 15x10 wheels quite often. Anyhow, thanks for your help. I'll give you a call soon.

You cant get the bearings off with out breaking them usually. If you have strange axles then call Billingsley for the axles. He is a sponsor and can hook you up.

As far as warranty on the housing, I guarantee it to be straight when i am done and the housing ends wont fall off.
