I remember a Fairmont around the Houston area that ran pretty strong (I think it was a wagon, but I don't recall for sure), but I didn't remember it having an LS1 in it. I think it was silver or gray.

I still remember seeing that thing roll to the line at denton and laughin my *** off... Then picking my JAW up off the ground when it yanked the wheels 3 foot and ran deep in the 6s.

The damn thing was quiet, and my buddies said the week before he was there on steelies pulling them just the same, clothes basket covered nitrous bottle and all.

So who owns it now? I'm gonna be doing a few projects in 2006 but I'd consider bringing that car up here and messing with folks for money for a while.

John Whitworth owns it now. Drives it everyday to school and work. Hes not interested in selling. Trust me, Ive tried to buy it off him myself. John D sold it to him in trade for John W's other Fairmont wagon which was a whole lot cleaner to build his turbo LS1 wagon with. Teh car still runs as strong now as it did now, and now it has a glide in it that John D put in before he sold the car.

Great article...I had a hand in the tuning of that setup....When we left for Thunder, it made like 580 or some thing like that with like 800 ft lbs....We get there and with soo much dyno time on it and the power it was making the stock 4l60e didnt make it....I ended up towing it back home behind my T400 equipped Formula...I had too ran some mid 10's at 126 and we both drove back to Dallas that Monday after thunder with him behind me on a tow strap at over 80 mph....It was a fun time for all!

If anyone knows the current owner, let him know I'd have some interest. I could race it for money for a year up here.
