Lonestar Montersports Park will not be open this Friday 1/27/06 Date has been moved...to 2/3/06.
Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up as I've seen a lot of people already had made plans...

Here is an email I got from John Hennessey last night:
SORRY BUT IT IS TRUE.
I DID UPDATE THE WEBSITE.
THE TRACK IS PRETTY MUCH READY TO GO. BUT GVEN THE FACT THAT SOMEBODY GOT KILLED AT HMP LAST WEEK - I HAVE DECIDED THAT WE NEEDED TO MAKE SURE ALL SAFETY ISSUES HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED PRIOR TO OPENING.
PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG IF YOU WOULD.

Dear Friend of LONESTAR,
We regret to tell you that we are not ready to re-open on this Friday, January 27, 2006. Here's why:
We've been very busy preparing the track since the beginning of January.
Given that the facility has not been in operation since August, 2005 - this was a lot of work. Now its completed. The track has been cleaned and prepped for racing. The timing system has been updated and tested.
All the lights have been tested. The grass is cut and we are just about ready to race. So the facility is good to go. Also, most of the staff who previously worked at Lonestar are coming back. Dee and Glen have also been a huge help to get re-opened and we would not be anywhere without them.
So the reason we are not ready to re-open yet is simply the fact that I wanted another week to make sure there we are doing everything possible to make the track as safe as possible. After the very unfortunate accident at Houston Motorsports Park last week, I really realized that while all the operation aspects of the track were under way and being handled, that I had not taken a good look at all issues and aspects related to safety at Lonestar.
We are now good to go with having the Austin county emergency services on board with us. We will be meeting with track employees this weekend to go over track operations including safety.
So thanks very much for your patience. We will be open on Friday, February 3, 2006 and we hope to see you then.
