Default Running car without O2 Sensors? bad for it

Just curious as I had the longtube headers installed on my vechicle and no O2 sensors because it wouldnt reach on the longtubes.... was just wondering if the vehicle doesnt run all that great without them.... or any better with them? I ordered some in.... was just curious if it actually made a difference other then just turning off the check engine light.

from my experience, running the headers with no o2's= the car runs like crap. but i also have no cats. and that was just an issue i got resolved just yesterday. the car would idle fine, but when it was in gear, it would idle rough. like it wanted to die. it turned out to be a bad o2 sensor in my driver side header. so if you were to ask me, yes, they make a difference. and i noticed you said you ordered some o2's in. why not just re-use the ones you took off and buy o2 extensions so they will reach?

You run a serious risk of hurting your motor without em.

If your PCM senses that the O2 sensors are missing the PCM will automatically go into limp mode which means that it will run rich and retard timing like crazy. That is to protect you motor from burning up. But it will run like crap. You can have a tuner tune the PCM in open loop mode which eliminates that O2 sensors, but for a street car I'd leave 'em in which means you will have to modify the wiring harness so that the O2's will reach the headers.
