I put mine under the bottom of where the a-arms connect to the k-member. See pic. If I need to jack the rear up, I put the jack stands under the axle tubes. If I need to unload the rear suspension, I put them under the body in front of the LCA's, near the SFC's.

PS - Phone book jack extension works like a champ.

On each end of subframe connectors, or under the front subframe behind the tire, and another pair under the rear axle.

But by your description, aren't you concerned about distorting that suspension pick up point?

I don't like to put the jack stands behind the front tires (under the owners manual jack points) because the entire front end hangs over. I can hear the car creaking as it's loading the body at that point, doesn't sit well with me. This also puts the pivot point farther back and causes a lot more of the weight of the car to be on the jackstands.

If you try to put the jackstands under the k-member, they are too close together to get between them. They're also not as stable as they are farther apart.

I've been doing it this way for years, no problems with the bushings yet. 130k miles has probably done more damage to those dudes than the jackstands ever will.

And likewise, I've been supporting the car on the frame rails near the factory jacking point for years without an issue.

to each his own, I guess.
