Default what kind of spider is this?

found a pretty big spider in my garage today. it was about 4 inches from finger to toe.

i didnt want to clean bug guts off my new u-coat-it floor, so i picked him up with a shovel and lit him on fire after hosing him down with brake parts cleaner in the driveway

did he deserve his fate? or was it harmless and i should have let him go in the neighbors yard?

Need pics or vid of it running around on fire to determine what it is. I specialize in the erratic movements of tarantulas while they are on fire. Thats how I identify them at least.

What I'm serious?

If it crawled on me while driving, that would be the end of my car as I would end up in a ditch or something.

Ugh, I hate spiders. While playing in a paintball tournament a few years back, I came around a tree and came face to face with one of these:

It's a banana spider. Scared the **** out of me. They're apparently quite docile, but...damn.

Could have been worse. It could have been a camel spider.
