True. Its really simple. If you're just replacing the speakers, you only have 2 wires, power and ground. I would suggest cutting the factory harness at the male side so that it stays intact with the female side in case you ever want to reinstall them. Then put whatever connectors you want at the end of the wires you cut. Its so simple.

Most the time I don't even read write-ups because its overloaded with too much info and it just clutters my brain. I like simple instructions. Thorough but to the point is the key.

Are you using the factory radio or aftermarket? If your using a factory radio, buy an aftermarket. If you have an aftermarket, run new wires and follow the instructions provided by the radio manufacturer. Just make sure to pick up the right harness for your radio, Bestbuy, Circuit city or Tweeter (lol if you can find one in Houston) can get you the right harness. Like some of the members said, its easy as hell. Dont do what dragaholic did unless you like jerry riggin your ****.

I'm glad I put an aftermarket CD player in mine. The factory ones keep crapping out one me!

My suggestion was not jerry riggin' by any means. He stated that he wanted to replace the factory speakers with aftermarket. I suggested to him that if he ever wants to reinstall the factory speakers for whatever reason, to cut wires on the male side of the connector. Aftermarket speakers aren't going to have the matching female plug. They will more than likely have spade connectors on the speakers.

So if he ever does reinstall the factory speakers, the factory male connector will need to be reconnected to the factory wire. If he's sweating over replacing the door speakers, I highly doubt he's wanting to go the whole 9 yards by doing a head unit, installing all new wire, etc.

I'm sure the factory wire (16-14 awg.) would be plenty anyway. He never mentioned anything about installing an aftermarket amp, which would lead me to believe that the speakers he'll be using aren't anything that will be pulling a ton of power anyway.

Is it a mono amp? Meaning meant for subs? To do it right, yes, I would suggest running new wire if you were amping the door speakers. 14-16 awg. should suit it well. If they're not going to be amplified, then just use the factory wire.

There's really no need for a tutorial. Take the door panel off, remove the plastic lining, remove the speaker (it snaps in), unplug it, cut the male connector, use the proper connectors on the factory wire to connect to the new speaker. Simple. If you want to run new wire, that is your choice.
