Default Need help w/ 05 silverado 3500

Something funky is going on with my buddies 05 duramax 3500 silverado. The check engine light will come on every now and then and the truck runs like crap when the kight is on. The problem is, is that when the light is on the scanner tool will not connect to read the codes. It's like the computer wont let it connect. I tried his scanner, my scanner, and my hp tuners scanner. none of them will connect. Anyone got any ideas on what could be going on??

Did you check the fuses? On the gasser trucks the OBDII port is on the same fuse as the as either the cigarette lighter socker or the accessory 12V outlet (cant remember which).

Thanks! Found the bad fuse, replaced it and now my scanner works! Pulled the code and found P2146 Fuel Injector Circuit Open Grp A. Any ideas? This truck has been left entirely stock and has no modifications.

Not really sure on that one....I had an LB7 Dmax a while back, never experienced anything like that. Sounds like an injector fault. I know the LB7s had injector issues, but I can't remember what the code was. However when the injectors went on the LB7, it was constant, the problem never went away and came back. Yours sounds electrical.

check this site out, its where I used to dig up all my Dmax info

I know on our trucks at work, alot of time's the fuel filters go out. The CEL will come on and the truck will start down shifting and only run around 15mph.

It means the pcm has detected an open circuit at the time it flagged a mil. A through check of the wiring harness from the pcm is the first step. Second one is what conditions are the problem present under, IE is it repeatable. hot cold, long drive short drive etc. Chances are it will be a bad injector. I have had a bunch of those trucks through the shop with injector problems only on two of them I have found harness issues.
