Default Can I fight this ticket? Pictures inside.

I was headed down to Texas Motor Speedway for the Dickies 500 when I went under a bridge and to my surprise, there were 4 Texas Highway Patrol cars clocking people with lasers. I got caught doing 76 in a 65 so it wasn't a huge amount, but I still don't have the money to pay for a ticket.

From what I understand, a cop isn't allowed to hide his car and clock people speeding. He has to be in plain sight. Is this correct? And if so, how can I fight it? I go to the municiple court of the city it was in and tell them i'd like a court date? What do I do after that?

Here's some pictures of the whole thing. I took them today. My car is parked where the cops were sitting.

damn that has to be illegal, but had the same thing happen but on a regular *** street, cop hid his car behind a privacy fence and was standing on the sidewalk behind a pole clocking people.

they used to do that by my school. they would park the car in a street and hide behind a telephone pole and jump out and clock people going over 20 mph. i heard a couple students got it dismissed. other's were too dumb to know better and just paid it.

Technically your vehicle is in plain site..
would be the same thing if he was sitting on the other side of a hill/overpass, and bam there he is.

the one about the fence and pole would be diffrent.. in a way..

they can't hide their car, it has to be visible by the public eye from quite some distance away.

its a form of entrapment. they have to have a light on at night and the car has to be visible

Hell we used to hide the car behind trees and run radar The fact of the matter is that you broke the law and got caught. It sucks but that's the way it goes.

Best case scenario is you pay court costs with a deferred sentence.

Ok so there is this cop that parks about 20 ft. off the side of the road here near my house and is always trying to catch me speeding. He's parked there just about every night on the weekends, sometimes even during the week, but his lights are never on. It's udnerneath a tree and it's not visible unless you get up close. Can I get the ticket dismissed if he is to catch me speeding one day? I might just try it to have fun. It's been well over a year since I have taken defensive driving so I'm good.

Tell them that you have a different rear end gear ratio then stock and that your speedometer is off a little, but you don't know by how much. That's what I did like 2 or 3 times.. And it worked!

People can say what they want. If you really want to know the law look it up. thats the only way you can find out. Laws change so much its hard for anyone to keep up even the cops. the bad thing is the court cost will more than likely be just as much as the ticket. I would just try to keep it off your record, the courts will let you make payments.

i'm getting mixed opinions. i think i'm just gonna look at the laws in that city and see what i can do.

i can use the rear end change and different rim/tire size too. i have a carfax that says the rear-end had an upgrade to the 2.32s and i have 17s on the back with 315/40 tires.

also i was traveling in a pack of a mini-van, civic, me and a mustang and only me and the mustang were pulled over. could that be considered profiling?

If you can prove it was profiling yes, can you prove it? NO
Speedo off is your responsibility not the officers, it won't work either.
You're gonna pay a ticket, it's just a matter of how much trouble youre gonna choose to go through before you pay it
