RIP HO SS...for now...
I was driving down the front straight toward the end of the day, and look down to see the volt meter on battery (it has been doing this at high speed, one time due to thrown belt). I think, man i hope my belt is still on, and notice oil pressure is 5lbs lower than usual at the temps seen open tracking (37ish lbs at full throttle, running 6.5qts)...I cross start finish at approx 145mph (6500rpm in 4th). All the sudden the steering wheel starts shaking like mad (feels like suspension problem but I know motor) and then WHOOOosh, dead. I look back to see a cloud of smoke starting. I begin to pull offline and down to the end of hot pits to stop. I'm thinking to myself, crap I think the car is on fire. I stop and the car goes up in smoke, pouring out of the front, exhaust, bumpers, hood scoop etc and begins to fill the car. I bail and run from the car. Friend pulls up behind me in his 03 cobra since he had a fire bottle and they bail to assist.
Luckily there is no fire in the car, just alot of oil on the headers and the "whoosh" sound was the coolant hitting the red hot headers and steam shooting from tail pipes. This baby let go big, but she died doing what she loved...going fast.
The only indication of root cause is the fact that my timing chain is broken in half. I have hunks of piston through the motor and all sorts of bad stuff going on. I am attaching all the pics so far and a video. Video is NWS due to language but other than that it's ok. Video is from my friend Sam with the 03 cobra. You can hear me tell him I blew it up and then we high 5. Other friend that's doing all the talking is a good friend of mine that apparently was upset that the car let loose.
I'll be ok, and the car will be back! Let me know if you have any leads on motors! I'm wanting aluminum block and it will be back better than before!

What engine combo was that? You should probably never use that intake manifold again either, bits and pieces get tucked up in there and sometimes never come loose until they decide to ruin your next engine. I know that one from experience

Car made 410/385 with a street tune on it on a hot day. It ran really well...Unfortunately I never got it to a 1/4 track with good weather. In July at SAR it ran a 12.84@116.5 still trying to learn the launch with the spec 3+ and it was 95deg and high humidity.
At TWS I managed to click off several runs in the sub 2:00 mark which is averaging a speed of over 95, one lap as high as 97.6ish.
I will keep you guys updated on the next motor. I have a few options opening up and it's looking good for the future. This is as good a reason as any to build a better/stronger motor. As I said before, the motor didn't worry me, I'm just glad I didn't run over my own oil at 145 on the front straight and slide into a wall...
