What's a good .38 or .357 revolver to live in a car? Picking a revolver because:

1. they go bang
2. bang hurts like hell on the wrong end
3. no hot shells flying out

I'll still have my CCW so let's leave that out

I'm most worried about the gunpowder blow-back and one-handed shot recoil. Get-away driving is easy, unless you have pirate vision with no depth perception and half of your field of vision is darkness.

 

hammerless Smith & Wesson .38 is a good one. No hammer means nothing can get jammed into it (stuff rattling around in your console). Just point and pull the trigger.

 

Id just get the .357. You can use .38 rounds in it if the .357's are too much. S&W makes a hammerless .357 as well

Plus, the best thing about revolvers is that you can dump the shells in your jacket and not leave behind any evidence.

Hope it's a leap better than the 9mm Taurus (Made in Brazile right?) I had. That thing kept on jamming on me.

 

You don't need a CHL in Texas anymore to carry in your vehicle anyway thanks to good 'ol HB 1815.

 

True dat. I know that before the new law, you had to have the ammo and the handgun in your vehicle separate unless you had a CHL. Is this still the case or no?

 

Hammerless revolvers are the way to go.

 

I wouldn't worry about the casings (if you're drawing, you're defending your life, at least I hope, that should be the least of your worries). Maybe it's just me, but I don't find the casings "that" hot, to each their own.

No CHL required to CONCEAL from plain view a loaded handgun (and use in mortal defense) in TX, CHL applies only if carrying on your body.

All to their own, but I carry a glock and cant see wanting a revolver. I would like to get a smaller frame than this G22 .40, might get a G27 .40.

 

but you still have to be 21 to have the concealed hand gun in your car right? not 18? im 18 and my shotty stays in my car.. but would like to get something a little easier to get to

 

Gotta be at least 21 to own a handgun, that alone should filter down through all the legal contingencies of a CCW situation

I have a pt92 9mm taurus that I have had for like 5 years. I have put hundreads of rounds through it and it has never jammed. I even have a 30 round clip for it and haven't had a problem with that either.

 

Those are some sweet setups. I need to get something like that figured out for my car.

 

I'm liking the Taurus Judge! Nothing says like a rock salt .410 to the face then a hollow point .45 in the chest...and not overly dangerous for bystanders either. Necessity>overkill

Hammerless S&W also cool. That could prove useful since I'm going to build a holster into the seat by the seatbelt release. "Take my car, just let me undo my seatbelt..... kaboom!" How do you decock a hammerless?

As far as revolver vs SA, hot shells aren't too bad on skin but can leave a mark on car. If I need to pull my SA, so be it. Besides, 2 well placed shots beat 9 bad shots. And IMHO anyone that can't finish the job in 5 shots shouldn't have a gun.
