I'm surprised Exxon/Mobil didn't make it on that sign.

Maybe an Exxon/Mobil employee originally made the image.

You think its the Oil companies making the prices go like this?

Their profit margin is only 3%. Thats ******* terrible for ANY company. In Texas, taxes alone make up somewhere around 18% of our fuel costs.

Bitch and moan all you want, we all do, just realize that its not the oil companies that keep raising prices.

It's actually around ~8%, so 8 cents of profit for every dollar in sales. And yes, profits are driven by much more demand (i.e, developing countries).

I was actually going to state what Eddiep just did. The profit margins are between 8-10%. The oil companies make billions of dollars because the US uses 20 million barrels of oil each day. The price of the barrel is one of the primary factors in determining the cost at the pump. Federal taxes are another.

The part that sucks is that I spend so much on gas between the truck and car. The irony is that I own a **** load of stock in Sun and shell oil. Kind of strange.

Well, prices keep going up, and we haven't slowed our consumption, so of course with the exact same profit margins they are going to continue to make money. If they didn't make money, why would they stay in business?
