Where did you get the ticket? Lots of cities will let you deferr it, meaning you pay the ticket plus 20$ and don't get another violation in 3 months and its dropped. Worked for me when i got one in pasadena. Pasadena makes it almost too easy, you don't have to appear in front of a judge or even go to the court house period, just send them a check in the mail (they obviously just want the $$$) But there was a catch that if you are under 25 as part of your probation you have to take defensive driving, but i am 25 so that didn't apply to me.

You can always call a traffic violation lawyer.

been thru that twice . once with freindswood and the other with galveston county. i just stayed the hell out of those areas till the 90 days passed. the traffic lawyer isnt a bad idea. however in some instances they have no more pull than you !

You dont need a lawyer if you know what your doing.......Anyone can make a deal with the prosecuter. I do it everytime I go to court for a speeding ticket or traffic related. I did get a lawyer on my PI though, but thats besides the point.

IMO The worst thing you can do is pay the ticket........well besides not anything about it.

What are the details on some of your tickets and how much did the lawyer charge you to take care of them? I always figured for minor speeding tickets a lawyer wasn't needed. Of course if you get slapped with a biggie like a DUI or wreckless driving you better have a good lawyer.

This is what I've always done and I have nothing on my record.
If you do go with a lawyer, go with one that someone you know has used. I've had friends that have had bad experiences with lawyers and traffic tickets.

so if you get a ticket deferred its only for 3 months you can't get a ticket? I thought it was for 6 months. I had one deferred in march and i just got another one is why i was asking.

Should have just ran man. Its a 50/50 shot. And I have no clue on how to fight a ticket cause I have never been there for it.

Kidding. I hope it all works out man. Speeding and Racing is a risky business and its only a cops job to pull you over when you are.

Anyways what is the cost of a lawyer for a traffic violation??

Blakes got the right idea anyway. Listen to him.

Just call your buddy who is a sheriff deputy in the area. That is what I had to do about an hour ago when I got popped by a Trooper for doing 56 in a 40. Its all good now though.

I hate these stupid, ridiculously low speed limits on state highways, like in Pearland on 518 now and 528 in Friendwood.

I have heard that the goverment will lower speed limits on all highways if the price of fuel still keeps climbing. Its a way to help MPG for vehicles. Its also another way to fund poice depts cause nobody is going 55 anymore.

This **** sucks.

On my ticket I am positive it was only 3 months. I have the paperwork sitting in my console as a reminder of how stupid I was to even get the ticket in the first place, do I really want to pay 190$ just to get to work a few minutes early??? The clerk should have given you a receipt saying you paid the fine and has exact date you are off probation. If you mailed in the ticket with the paperwork to get it deferred they should have mailed you back a receipt.

BUT!!! your probation is 3 months from the date you paid the fine. NOT the date you were cited for speeding. So if you got your ticket in march but didn't go in to pay it till your court date in april sometime I would imagine you are still on probation.
