Default Tuning in Houston area for LS1 with unpopular MAF?

About to start my LS1 build, and had a question on a Granatelli MAF and tuners in the area. I have Granatelli MAF PN 350330 (the non-50 sate legal one), and was going to get the engine tuned by MTI because of this post: https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=350330
Yeah I know the post is old, but I figured if Jason at MTI suggested this maf then then it should do fine.

But then I saw the thread about MTI not doing business anymore, so does anyone know who can tune my engine with this maf in the Houston area?

Thanks guys

Would you mind giving a little more info? Is it harder to tune or something?

Thanks

If I remember right those MAF's just send the PCM different readings than a factory maf which result in leaning out the car and making more timing. Those came out a LONG time ago and worked for stock cars with no PCM tuning. Anybody tuning a car and using a MAF isn't going to want to have to calibrate that POS. Anything that MAF can do even for a bone stock car you can do better with tuning software and a dyno.

The other post are correct that Granatelli MAF is trouble. You would be miles ahead to get a stock one and then get it tuned;

i had a granatelli, sold it and used the stock one, also the maf housings on the granatelli are too big it makes the engine think it's running lean, they were good on stock cars but not on ones with alot of mods.

I had one of the granatelli meters on my first ls1 car back in 2000 and it did the oposite to mine. It didn't run rich it ran lean as hell. Do you self a favor and throw it in the trash and get a stock meter.

They can be tuned just fine, just not by novice tuners. You need to fully tune the car in speed density, then rescale the MAF to match your SD tune. Takes more time, but if you're in love with the G MAF, there's no reason it won't work.
