Default this is a sad day....thinkin of selling my 02 z

so heres the deal. i had to put full coverage insurance on my car and i am 20 so you guys can imagine the insurance. in case you cant its 520 a month. well between that and the car payment thats not big im payiing 700 a month. well i cant exactly afford that. i am trying to make it by but its tough. if anyone has any ideas please feel free to give input. i have got quotes from every major insurance company and all the little ones to here in town.

my car is a 2002 z28 camaro a4. it has 130k miles and is mostly stock. it has a slp lid, cutout, and hsw dry plate nitrous kit forthe special moments. the wheels are 18 c6 wheels with 275/45/18 bfgoodrich gforce super sport tires wrapping the wheels. the wheels are polished aluminum not chrome. the intereior is in pretty god shape. carpet is pretty dirty but thas about all. i have an ultra z hood on it and i also have the stock hood. berger panel mod and the car has z06 style z28 emblems with back halo headlights. there is a pillar gauge pod that has a interceptor scan gauge, and an afr gauge the other is empty. car went 12.85 on the 75 hit but i havent taken it on the 100.
i drive the car an hour and a half to work and back and it does great. ac works great no mechanical problems at all. the fluids are changed every 3k miles with royal purple.

i dont really know where to start with the price so if your interested just shoot me a message or whatever.

let me know what you guys think. if i am forgetting anything let me know.

car is in longview, tx

decided today that i am gonna have to sell her. dont want to but there seems to be no other solution.

$8,500 obo

i work 6 am to 6 pm or later if i have to. so if i dont respond right away dont worry, ill get there eventually. if you send me a pm just give me time lol.

for some reason couldnt get pics to upload so heres a link to another thread with a few pics. i can email more if anyones interested. https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearance-detailing/949727-pics-my-02-z-berger-panel-ultra-z-hood.html

Fbody market is real tough right now man, with the miles I would say around 10k tops. If you put the car back to stock you can probably make a little more money.

i have two tickets no wrecks and man you were drivin a corvette...old people drive those therefore insurance is normally cheaper. i searched and searhed and 520 is cheapest i found.

i owe a lot less than that man. im not even looking for 10k maybe more like 8k or so. i just dont know an exact number.

I think you can get 8k if you wait for the right buyer. I just bought a 99 w/ 60k miles for $7300 but it was bone stock. Have you tried Geico? Back when I was 21-22 I think I paid about 200 for full coverage with a couple tickets, now that I'm 27 it's only $54 a month...lol. If you are interested in trading your rims for some stock chrome 5 stars plus a little cash let me know.

what i would suggest is to get yourself registered on another car/truck. make sure that its an older model than yours. if you have a relative (mom, dad, etc) who is older place them as the primary on the insurance on the z. you will notice a drastic drop in your insurance. most insurance agents will not tell you that. if you have ne ? jus send me a pm.

$520 a month?!?

Thats terrible, I had my 02 Z when I was 20 and paid ~$220 a month. Now I'm 24 and its down to $160 FC. And my record was never clean throughout my teens, speeding tickets, running stop signs etc. I would definitely look further, or see if you can combine insurances (get insurance from the same people as your home insurance)

Dude that just flat out sucks ! Insurance is such a friggin scam ! I remember when i paid $300 a month when i was 18 and people did'nt believe me. That was ten years ago for an efing volkwagen ! Now my brother is 19 and he just bought a 99 z28 and they tried to scam him for $520 a month ! So i guess your not alone man. I would call every single company know to man kind if i were you because after calling a dozen different companies i cut my bill in half from when i was with state farm. Good luck man, hope you dont have to sell your car. Btw its one nice lookin camaro !

My insurance is cheaper on my SS than my Z71, check with a better company. I have had sports cars since I was 18 and I have never paid over 200 a month.

i really dont want to sell. she is a blast to drive and i havent even put my 3200 stall or my shift kit in yet. it definitely sucks and i hate to do it but its looing like i may have to bite the bullet and sell her. took me forever to find that hood and i got a great deal on it already painted.

im gonna go cry now.

Yeah seriously. Raise the deductible! Just pray you dont get broken into, stolen, or wreck. FWIW, im 20 and my full coverage insurance is only about 120 a month, i have full coverage with a $500 deductible, but im on my parents insurance. Also, i have no tickets or wrecks.

Good luck with your situation!

I'm not sure if it would make a difference in your situation, but you might try going up to the insurance office and getting the quote in person. In my previous experiences the quotes over the phone or Internet are way higher than the quote I got in person. When I was 18 FC on my 01 SS State Farm was ~380 on the net, ~340 over the phone and 240 in person. When I was 20 it had dropped to 180.

If you do go to a small company for insurance make sure you look everything over and check your coverages, because they will not show what they are not going to cover if you dont ask.

It sucks being young.....

Try dropping it down to liability insurance. You'll will lose full coverage but you wont lose your car. Only thing bout liability is that if YOU wreck it YOu pay for damages, if someone else hits you THEY pay for damages. Unless you get that POS who doesnt have insurance in which you will be SOL....

I have liabilty on my car. No need for full coverage as if it gets into a wreck it will prob be totaled anyways. Not worth more than 3-4K at most. I pay like 72$ for liability on my car.

So trust me there are tons of routes you can take than to get rid of your pride and joy. Ive had many people tell me to sell my car cause its a gas hog, etc and since im about to buy a z06. I told them no way. I have put too many busting my *** hours into this car by modding it. Not going to sale it or give it to some teen that will prob wreck the damn thing.

He's still paying on it, you are required to have full coverage.
