take womens sports off the list and how does it change things? (i did not click the link)
so only men's sports are allowed to be included when the OP mentions that Texas and OU are so much more dominant in "SPORTS"?

I think we have a semantics problem.

and I'm trying to "take women's sports off the list" but am having trouble when I come to Cross Country, Track and Field, and Swimming and Diving... should I only count the men in these, or just leave them off the list?

well, then texas has the overall of course 73-36-5. I definitely wouldn't have gone to A&M back then. Much less if I thought I was talented enough to play pro.
Considering the first woman was enrolled in 1893 I'd say it's been quite a while since it was all male.

she wasn't allowed to get a degree. Texas A&M hasn't been a normal university for long.

ok, to be fair, I redid the tally EXCLUDING women-only sports (soccer, volleyball, softball), and A&M still won 7.5 to 5.5

DeerHunter- you are correct, women did take classes during this time, but they were forbidden from gaining a degree.

The wives/daughters faculty, staff, and students were officially allowed to attend in 1964, and the Corps of Cadets became voluntary in 1965.

The Lone Star showdown was Dollar Bill's idea and Texas has won it since every year since it's inception (three or four years I think), except this year. Yet another contest where UT tops A&M.

Also, Aggie fans like to have selective memory and use periods of time that will benefit them and their comparison to UT. I guarantee you that if the entire series record were reversed the Ags would certainly use it to their advantage and want to include it in the conversation.

What kind of makes me laugh is when people talk about history and all that stuff. Like your schools record in the past against a certain school will make you win a game against them this year.

A&M has been going slowly downhill for a little while now. Id say probably the last 4 years have been the roughest on them.

Texas and TTU have been on the upslide for the past 6 or so years and have left A&M in the dust.

considering the state of our athletics program before $Bill took office, I would say texas has some big problems if they DIDNT win it the previous 3 years.

in FOOTBALL. right, I completely agree with you about FOOTBALL. But every single one of our other sports, with the exception of Volleyball, has done nothing but improve by leaps and bounds in the past 3-4 years.

Our athletic program is headed the right direction... we just need to catch up with the only sport which matters to most people.

it's true.

And Mike Sherman should do a good job of integrating athletes in to the campus atmosphere a lot better than what coaches did in the past.

There is no point to pick on the Ags and there football so much....it's not like nothing but a bunch of weirdos don't come out of that school anyway

Oh yea. I was just talking about football. I guess I should of said that. Football is a HIGH profile sport and it seems that its still A&Ms biggest revenue.

During the Alabama/Clemson game a few nights ago the broadcasters were saying that Alabama's football program profited something like 34 MILLION last season. Not bad.

Actually, at the end of last season I said give the Irish 2 seasons and they would be a powerhouse again. That gives them till next season, which is still my prediction.
