Default Texas Business Owners: Is Work Slow for You?

Things have been quiet around here for the past 2-3 weeks. Is anyone else experiencing this as well?

Yes, last week was decent but this week has been terrible so far. I can't wait until this election is over and our economy gets better.

I own a powder coating company and our slowest time is during the summer time but it has been busier than expected this year.

It's not going to get better any time soon, it's going to get worse actually. Really soon too (early next month.)

business has been looking better. We have saw this coming and have restructured our business model. We have done smart things with products pricing and marketing. We decided not to allow the poor economy to be an excuse.

edit: not a business owner, just very active within operations.

It's hard for people not to hoard their money when they see the media freaking out and the gov't with their heads up their asses.

My $.02.

I'm a business consultant and work 100% commission. I am finishing my worst quarter in about 4 years.

LS1x2 has a point. Part of the slowdown/crisis/blah blah, call it what you want, is psychological. Part of it is real and based on fundamentals that are messed up or at least in decline.

I am a self employed IT pro. I have been working for myself for about 7 years now. It has been busier than ever for me the last few months. My wife is a cosmetologist and has owned her own business for 7 years as well. It has been rock solid stable for her through all of this. Guess we are fortunate.

My dad and I have a truck/auto repair shop it has been down hill since 01' but business is real up and down it's real good then real slow. At the end of the month the busy barely offsets the slow and it's a little over break even. It;s hard times now and harder coming people are having to watch their nickels and dimes.

Slowest at Countrywide/BofA I've ever seen it, but at least my job is not in danger.

I know how you feel, I'm in the same business. I sell parts at an Acura dealer and our customers for the most part have a good income. These people aren't buying ****. Every body is pinching pennies.

If y'all ever work on any Acura's or even Honda's for that matter shoot me a PM so I can set y'all up an account. We do deliver out your way.

Not yet, but just like after 9-11 things take awhile to slow down in our industry.... business owners start cutting the best assets in a recession or down economy before they get rid of resources (employees that they can't utilize etc).

Guess they all have soft hearts.
