Default Arranging your toolbox?

Anybody have any novel ideas for good ways to organize your toolbox? The way the tools are arranged? How they're stored?

I have a drawer for metric wrenches, a drawer for SAE wrenches, a drawer for 1/4" sockets, one for 3/8" sockets, etc...

I use some of the bigger drawers in the bottom cabinet for tools that come in their own cases (harmonic balancer puller, etc...) and bulky items.

I have a small extra roll around chest that I keep all of my air tools in, along with extra gaskets, and specialty tools (drill bits, dremel tool, etc...).

Just arrange things the way you think would work best in your situation. You can always change things around.

I've actually seperated the ratchets and extensions into the drawers with there respective fitting sockets 1/2, 3/8, etc... I figured that would be one less drawer pull if the ratchet is in the same spot with the sockets.
I've got all of my double open ended wrenches in a drawer and then all of my open/closed wrenches in another. (Metric and SAE in different drawers)
Air tools in a big drawer.
Cutters, pliers, vice grips and clamps in a drawer.
Screw drivers in a drawer.
Zip ties, box knives, air fittings and instuction pamphlets up in the very top.
Cordless drill and bits in a drawer.

I got all of my sockets to fit in 1 drawer. I bought these little plastic holders that hold most of them, and then I have a set of both metric and SAE in all sizes on rails that I can carry with me if I need to go far.

I have a peg board in my garage for some of the awquard tools and other junk.

I also got some wrench holders/carriers that keeps them nice and organized

When I bought my snap-on, it came with little sliver 1/2 squared stickers that have pictures of tools on them, put them on the top of the handles, takes my about 3 minutes to sort after a ball-bustin day.

In mine I've got air tools, ratchets, break-overs, torque wrenches in a drawer. 3/8 and 1/4 sockets in a drawer. 1/2 in a drawer. combination wrenches both sae and metric in a drawer. special tools (valve spring compressors, brake tools, timing light, etc.) scattered among 3 or 4 drawers. screwdrivers pliers gasket scrapers in a drawer. all impact sockets in another drawer.

It kinda depends on how big of drawers you have and your preferances as to how you arrange it.

I use the serrated rubber "converyor belt" rubber material in all drawer bottoms of my toolbox - the same stuff SnapOn boxes can come with, but at a fraction of the cost. I spent $30 for a 40 foot x 36" deep roll of the stuff.

Sears has some magnetic toolbox drawer labels, such as "PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVERS", "1/4" SOCKETS", etc. Very helpful to see what's in each drawer, esp if you have a giant toolbox and a lot of tools [and who doesn't?!].

When I wrenched for a livin' I knew where every tool was W/O even looking...............Now, 15 years later, I'm still good for 90% of my tools without a peek.
