I bought an Autometer Battery Tender. It keeps your battery conditioned during long storage and trickle charges it when needed.

Most any battery charger will fill your needs if you just plan to "charge the battery".

If you plan on turning the dial to "Crank" then this is where a good battery charger is needed. The voltage rectifiers are typically the weak link in cheap battery chargers.. Try and start the car a few times with the charger hooked up and you'll likely fry the diods.

I bought a battery charger several years ago from TSC ( Tractor Supply Company ), if you're looking for the standard type of battery charger and not the Battery Tender kind I'll look up which model I have. If you are looking just to maintain your battery while in storage the Battery Tender is the way to go, the best place to get one of those is http://www.accwhse.com/batteryt.htm . Model number 0210128.

That is funny to hear that there are TSC stores up in Michigan - if that is the state you were in when you bought it anyway. I didn't realize they were spread out that far. Anyway, I just bought a small one from them for a little Christmas present to myself. It is a small 2amp trickle/10amp regular charger - but we don't have to deal with severe cold here in south Texas - it's just that my battery does get a little weak when my car sits in the garage for 3 weeks or more while we have a wet spell or I am just busy. So it is nice just to charge up the battery from time to time.

My Dad has a more powerful one with a 1000 amp booster that is pretty sweet. He had it for our farm equipment as it would crank up the diesel engines even if the battery was completely dead.

Anyway, I just thought I would let you guys know that Sears has two nice DieHard chargers on sale and one is regularly $109.99 for $69.99 right now. It is a wheeled model and has a booster with a 3 year warranty. And I believe if you order it through their website - in the Automotive Section - you can get another 10% off as well for a short time - even if you are going to pick it up at the store. I got an email from them to that affect anyway. So check it out...

Thanks guys, that will help with what I'm looking for. I think there may be a couple of TSC's here in Indy that I can go check out, seem to be pretty good source for battery chargers and such. I don't drive the car very often so maybe a battery tender type maybe more along the lines of what I'm looking for.

I think it would also, but for what you'll pay for battery charger from TSC why not get both. It usualy takes 11 to 12 working days to get a Battery Tender from the link above, it's well worth it. JMO
