Hawk LS Series Harmonic Balancer Installation Tool & Other Stuff
Hawk LS Series Harmonic Balancer Installation Tool
Here is the Hawk LS Series Harmonic Balancer Installation Tool. It has been on market for 8 years now and proven itself to be a must when installing a harmonic balancer. Universal installer tool kits do not work well with the GM LS Series motors. No longer do you have to chance stripped or damaged crank threads trying other installation methods.
There are two versions offered, the GM LS1, LS6, LS2 & LS3 or the GM LS7. The GM LS7 version is approximately 3 inches longer due to the deeper crank threads in the GM LS7. So the tool needs to be longer. The GM LS7 version can be used on other LS motors but there may be clearance issues with the added length of the tool during use.
Exclusive new valve spring removal tool engineered specifically to work with all GM Gen III/IV LS-type engines. The easy-to-use custom design enables the removal of one or two valve springs at a time without the hassle of removing the rocker stand or any of the other installed rockers. The tool works both with cylinder heads installed on an engine in a vehicle or with the cylinder heads off. The simple design facilitates easy usage in vehicles where other tools are incapable of reaching the tight spaces. This tool is a must have for all LS engine builders and enthusiasts.

There seems to be a bit of confusion why there are two versions.
There are two versions offered, LS1, or LS7 note the LS7 version is approximately 3 inches longer due to the deeper crank threads in the LS7. So the tool needs to be longer.
*The LS7 version can be used on a LS1 but there may be clearance issues with the added length of the tool during use.
*The price difference between the version’s is due to the add cost of material and method of shipping. This is why a LS1 version is offered at a much lower cost.

Ah I gotcha, I use mine on M6s and A4s (I have the only A4 F-body I have ever worked on ) Still doesnt change the fact that I do not want to pull the pulley on by a spinning bolt. And that is the reason I have the tool. I have a Kent Moore flywheel holding tool for keeping the motor still
I got to use the tool last week end putting the balancer on my LS6 and it worked fanstatic. Just thought it was great I'm so glad it bought it. I've read some terrible stories about installing the balancer but the Hawk tool makes it so easy.
This is a must have tool and is made with with excellent professional quality... AWESOME tool and at a great price especially for how well it is constructed. If you don't have one hit up BYUNSPEED and buy yours.... Thanks 618HAWK and BYUNSPEED
I tried to checkout on the Colorado Speed website and it keeps asking me to change the ship to address. I'm in Vancouver, BC Canada if that makes any difference.

Thanks for offering this tool. I was amazed how few good quality installation tools were available for this important task. I'm glad I read up on various peoples horror stories of using the generic/rentals from Autozone, etc. In stark contrast, everyone that has the Hawks tool can't seem to praise it enough. I ordered mine a couple of days ago to install my new ATI super damper on the turbo 5.3. Should be here tomorrow!
Ordered this tool after finding it advertised in Group Purchase (by CoSpeed, Which I missed out on). I looked up the website and ordered it online on 3/17/2015 and got it (Shipped from California to my state of NY) on 3/21/2015.
Got the components
Here's the tool a bit closer up
Installed!
It was just like everyone else that bought the tool mentioned. Easy as could be. I put some ARP bolt lube on the installation tools threads and threaded it into the crank by itself, to make sure the crank threads would be lubricated. Then unthreaded the tool, put the ATI Super Damper 917302 (non-underdriven/stock diameter) on the crank snout, then fully threaded in the installation tool. Once that was as far in as it could go, I used my open end wrench to tighten the 'driver' and it pushed the hub on completely without a hitch. Lubed the ARP 12 point crank bolt, put some high temp Silicone on both sides of the ARP washer (otherwise, oil can seep past the keyway provided on the ATI hub), and torqued it to 230ftlbs
