Default Norco 86000

Hey guys I've been looking to get a lift for awhile now and there's a guy a couple hours away from me selling a norco 86000 for 800. It only lifts up to 36 inches would that be enough clearance to pull the motor out from the back when I need to pull it out?

while 36 inches is probably enough height clearance to clear the motor from under the car, the issue is you dont have much space to get under the car yourself unless you are on your knees. Still that would get old quick.

and Im not sure what you mean from out the back now that I think about it, I assumed you ment dropping the motor from under neath and lifting the car off it. something that will be an issue for you though is clearing the tranny out with that kind of design. there is a lot of bracing in the center of that left that will make it very difficult to work on things in the center of the car. If I were swapping clutches I would not use this lift, and it my hinder dropping a motor from the bottom as well depending on where it all sets under the car.

Ya I meant dropping the motor out from the bottom. So scissor life isn't the type of lift I should go with? I'm guessing two post lift would best?

if you look at how it sets when its collapsed, there is a lot of stuff that will be in the way of the motor and trans as you try to brace it form under the car before you lift it.

if you are set on a scissor lift I would look into a different type like maybe a tuxedo lift, or look for one that has the to lift tracks with no bracing between.

A 2 post will always be easier to work on the under side of the car with, but a lot of things can be done with a scissor style lift as well just not as easily

I was set on the scissor lift because it would fit in my garage. A 2 post lift would probably not fit. I think I might just save up for a maxjax and bolt it down in front of my garage. This way when I am not using it I can roll it back into the storage. Thanks for your help

well they make low clearance 2 post lifts where the posts are 10ft tall, I have one of those at my shop and wish i could fit it in my basement. I would look a little more into scissor lifts before you rule them out entirely just look for different designs.

this is one im currently looking into cause I cant use the maxjax either. They make mid height versions of this design as well.
