Default Need Recommendations For Jack Stands

I already have the Arcan floor jack and am in need of a couple of jack stands.

From a safety/durability standpoint, what would you guys recommend for a good set of jack stands?

Thanks

I have just some RV jack stands from Harbor Freight. Also, their low profile jack that goes to 23" is a good one to have.

But I built these... 12" high and you jack the car up and place these under the wheels. So if you need to do brake work, they don't work. But any kind of engine or trans work, these work better as it's easier to get the car up that high and back down off of these. Jacks are little more dicey.

Great job on the wood work! Those would definitely come in handy in the near future: I will be replacing the ac compressor etc.

I received a set of Torin 3 ton jack stands from Amazon and they look like crapola and are heading back. Having jack stands that make me uncomfortable doesn't help since I have a small aversion to crawling under a vehicle unless it is on a lift

I have the craftsman 4 ton yellow jack stands and they seem very stable for my bird. They also happen to be on sale right now lol.

I actually looked at those same stands on Amazon. The part I like is the feet they have on them. I might run over to Sears tomorrow and take a look.

What's the overall measurements of the wood piles? They look great.

Jakefusion,
If you make those wood stands out of balsa wood, they'll be a lot lighter to lug around. Just saying. LOL

I have the 6 ton from Harbor Freight and 3 ton from Tractor Supply and haven't has any issues. I've had my old Duramax sitting on the 6 ton and held just fine.

I got tired of jacking the front end up so high just to get the tires off . They have low profile stands but didn't want to spend the money. Bought two 8' 2x4s and cut them both down in 12" sections. Lay them out in a criss cross patten 3 across and screw together. The last 2 boards go on top in the middle and it's just enough to get the front tire off the ground and very stable. Fits perfect on the frame behind the pinch weld and enough room for a floor jack. I trust it way more than I would a jack stand and it was only like $6.

This is for a lowered car, if not lowered you will need another layer of wood somewhere.
