why would someone buy a tool box that cost 13 THOUSAND DOLLARS?? it's a metal box. motorcycles and cars, that have thousands of moving parts and technology cost less that a metal box. and saying it's your profession blah blah blah does not justify the price of a box, or price for name brand tools for that matter.

Apparently, those who understand, understand, and those who don't, don't get it at all. I'm not sure which boat I'm in -- at the race shop we have a few big top-of-line craftsman boxes, and I have a craftsman stack with both friction and ball-bearing drawers. Never owned a Snap On, etc, but I can appreciate the nicer end of the box world.
FWIW, a snap on 19 mm wrench I found is a beauty compared to the craftsman stuff. But the Craftsman professional stuff is , perhaps?, comparable.

thats great that they are better quality 10 fold, but is it worth that much money? i'm sure some techs will chime in and defend their purchase reguarding quality and blah blah blah. all i see is someone getting anally raped and being proud of it. seriously, 13 THOUSAND???? snap on, matco, mac and etc are geniuses.

Let it die
You have not even seen the box you are talking about. I had 2 40 in. craftsman boxes and a 6 ft. wall locker i was busting out of . I have about 50k in tools now. And yes its worth it , I make about 65k a year in a small Ga. town.yes , the boxes are pricey but you get what you pay for. It does not matter if nobody buys it. You should see how freakin awesome this thing looks in a 2 car garage.

Its not just about the tools it stores, I can vouch for Matco's quality, they are the best tool storage. I've had my 7535 for 3 years now, replaced every drawer handle that had any scratch and the box could pass for NEW! Can you replace chrome drawer handles on any other box that easy? NO.
While back I accidentally dropped a power steering rack as I was walking toward the box One of the inner tie rod just grazed the box, didn't even scratch the powder coat I couldn't belive it.
My buddies Snap On KRL box the paint comes off when he polishes it
Once a month I wipe it down with some Zaino Z6 looks like new.

Do you even wrench on yer own stuff, or do you just PAY someone w/a $13k box to do it for you?
Don't mean to come off like an *** but....
A high end box is a thing a beauty. I don't(yet)own such a piece.....but have friends who work out of high end boxes, and can appreciate why.
Btw slowec..... badass box for a VERY fair asking price.... TTT4ya!

Its not just a place to keep you tools its also a place to keep your tools safe. Many shops are open 7/24, you need some way to secure the $30K-$50K+ tools you own or you won't have any.

Tools do walk. My gardener often comes into my basement and helps himself to any tools he likes. Consequently, I need to now lock my six home tool boxes...
You said you got a federal job. Is it making small rocks from big rocks? How long are you in for? Any chance of early parol? If yes, keep the box - you may be sorry you sold it someday....

Retail is 12.9k. And yes the tools in the box are worth way more than the toolbox.
Our friend next door just got the new Snap-On box. It is 173" wide with 2 side cabinets, has the main cabinet deep drawer which is 110" wide. Matching top boxes. Its a thing of beauty just a shade over 21k.
