Default AC removed out of Fire Wall

I figured I would post this in here, since this is kinda custom work, and it was done using a Dremel.
I was sitting at work today, nothing going on, so I started looking into what I can tear out of the car. I have it parked at work eventhough it has no Engine in it. I took out the Dremel and started cutting some more stuff out. Having no Engine made this job alot easier. I left everything on the inside intact, so all pieces can be bolted in where they were, and the Heat will still work. I am going to bolt a piece of Aluminum sheet metal in the spot where this was and seal it in. This will clean up the Engine bay real well.

As far as the weight savings, this was like maybe 2 lbs, but I had the Engine out already, so might as well do this while I have the room. It was all useless pieces.

Why not just remove the entire piece as one unit? That's what I did.

Looks like he wants to keep his heat. I took my HVAC out and it really cleaned it up, and put a piece of alluminum from the inside. I put a strip of foam that was sticky on one side around it to make a nice seal

Do you have any more detailed pics of how you are saving the heat?

When I had my nova, I had longtubes with purple hornies dumping right along side the trans. At the time I had a junk shifter boot/bezel around my hurst shifter until could find a nos one. In the fall I just lifted the boot off and got some nice heat flow lol.

do you have any pics of that, i want to do something with mine. the ET heads make it impossible to do anything on that side of the motor.

heres a pic of when I pulled the dash out to do it and a pic of the plate from the outside, I didnt get the heater yet for in there, I need to get other things going before I spend the money for that. it does give you a lot more room, me getting a stand alone system and moving the PCM inside my car made even more, getting a tubular K member gets you more room from the bottom side as well.
