Default wheel stands

Do any of you guys have stands for under the wheels of your cars? I've used some in the past, but don't have access to them any more. I really liked using the wheel stands instead of jack stands for jobs like subframe connectors, and especially transmissions. The jackstands are just in the way of a transmission job, and putting a stand under the tire really frees up the area.

If anyone has a source, or plans for building some, I would be interested in hearing about it.

I've jacked the car onto 4 ramps before, and I turned them so as not in the way of where I was working.

yeah. ive used some before and Now I dont prefer them. if Im doing a big job I'll take the tires off and put jackstands somewere in there. the difference in saftey and performance is too small to tell. mostly personal preference.

There is a brand out there, I they are called RhinoRamps. They come in two different heights. Google them, and you'll find lots of stuff.

Here ya go. These are FREE if you go to the right place. There can't be a Jack Stand as stable as these and this cheap. Go to any big truck place or maintenence shop for rigs and they will probably give them to you to get them out of their way.http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/d...3/PICT0029.jpg

That's exactly what I've done in the past. I had two steel wheels stacked and welded together. The tires sat in there perfectly, and it got the car pretty high off the ground.

i like the rhino ramps too. good for floor jobs.

he said his were welded together so i doubt they were one at a time. my floor jack if placed in the right spot im sure would be able to clear two wheels stacked up.

this is a really good idea. kinda like a poor man's lift. i might just look into picking up some cheap discarded wheels.

If you get some cheap steel wheels that are 6 inches wide, and weld them together, you only need to pick the wheel up 12 inches, roughly. It will need to be higher because of the suspension travel, but any worthwhile jack should be able to do it.

I just jack up the front and put the jack under the rearend and jack it up. Im a fat *** and I can lay on my side under the car. Awesome for exhaust, sub connectors or anything else under the car.

I made some out of 2x10 boards and put some cheapo cabinet handles on them. Cut them 12" and you can make a pair out of 1 length of an 8' board.
