Absolutely incorrect... I'm a HUGE pain in Chris' *** (he's the guy I report to @ IB)
On top of that, he actually does give a ****, and is a really talented guy when it comes to figuring out solutions. He came here basically throwing himself in front of the bus, to let you guys know IB does give a ****. I think it's time we turn this thread around and try to help figure out solutions, rather than bandwagon and throw around talk about jumping ship to some new, blank forum. If there's one thing I've learned from working with Internet Brands for the past several months, is that while the first try may not be perfect, they *always* go back to the community to find a good balance.

Look at this definition:
http://www.money-zine.com/Definition...-per-Employee/
So, for example, you'll likely find that number super-low (or negative?) for dot-com startups who just went public, who've yet to generate a profit.
I want the site back the way it used to be. No google ads, period. You can imagine the hypocrisy it creates when we tell people they can't post non sponsor links but then have google screaming "click here for prices undercutting your hard working sponsors!"
If the way it used to be was a pain to manage then maybe find a way to make it easier.
It's just wrong. I know business is business but sheesh this is a living, breathing community. If it weren't for the sponsors in the first place, tech would not be as awesome as it is. Why does IB want to stick it to them so bad.
I don't like the new search, the way it pulls it up by post is annoying, I end up clicking the same thread four times.

Constructive eh...
- Move the google ads or get rid of them.
- ad.doubleclick = gone
- Find a new way to list the sponsors that appeases them
- Fix the screen to the size it used to be
- Test firefox's pop up block after you make changes to see what most of us are looking at

either that or you could divide up the list so some of the sponsors appeared at the top and some on the side, if one huge list on the side is not optimal.
I agree with this. Any kind of non-sponsor link posting policy is extremely hypocritical and dumb/stupid if the google ads stay.
red83: IB doesn't ban anyone, that's up to our staff. If IB started banning people without a good reason, I'd just lock 'em out
I'd probably get fired, but you guys would kick in a few bucks to help pay my bills, right?
8a8mfh: That is way messed up -- and a big one on the list. That would definitely **** me off (but I use Firefox so I'm good
)
Chris: Quit being a know-it-all :p
reject: I understand what you mean, but please -- be constructive without being condescending, please.
Adam98Z: I think I like that idea as well, but keeping the tower of sponsor banners fit in the available height of the page so it doesn't run on for 232 feet below the last post. I really want to figure out some cool way to organize the list of sponsors as well, where people can get a nice "global" look at them.

That would probably work too. I'm using xp and firefox. Almost half my screen is white space. It's really annoying because it makes the text really condensed. I also noticed Patriot Performance's icon isn't loading right.

i believe everyone has been waiting for a reponse from the higher power. its hard to turn something negative around. when the higher power is no where to be found, or there just banning people. now is the time to cut people a little slack. your asking that of us so cant you do the same for us and not ban someone for naming a website that can be googled? just a thought
More interaction from Tony and John would have been beneficial.
I truely think that the PERCEIVED lack of communcation from the mangement has caused everything to get out of control.
The previous comments of "They are here to stay, and there is nothing we can do about" it attitude is what kind of put me off.
But reading Brains statement above about how there is a priority list, makes me feel a bit more at ease.
Unfortunatly, Google Ads are a fact of life nowadays, but hopefully Brains is able to make them not so OBVIOUS!
Good luck Brains!
Keliente: the new ad SYSTEM is better (on the back end) but obviously we've got work to do on the front end. As for search, hit up that search sticky any time you can, I spend a lot of time in there

how about some good ol fashion frames, like put the left part of the page on a seperate frame from the main index that way the sponsers only scroll when you scroll their part of the window and the index scrolls independently from the other. basially like two website running inside of one. i know you know what i'm talking about. it's basic html using frames
IMO at the very, very, very least, the google ads should be at the very bottom of all of the sponsor ads. I don't want them to exist at all but I don't call the shots here.
I have to agree. I think the Google ads are unfair and a slap in the face to the sponsors of this board. However, I can understand IB's reasons for wanting to add them to the site. I do think IB needs to work closely with the sponsors of this site to create an effective way of keeping the Google ads while offering an appropriate amount of space for the paying sponsors. I have read several responses from IB employees that sound like "cookie cutter" remarks and it isn't helping. I do know that certain people at IB do care about the outcome and are working to "fix it"... How do I know? Well, I am sitting next to the person who has been busting his butt all day (with others at IB) trying to make it work. Please remember that there are people still on "our side" working for IB and doing everything in their power to make sure this site doesn't go to the dogs. I think it is funny how some people talk about the search not working... HELLO!?! Have you tried using it lately? I'm happy that it does work now. For months there was absolutely no search and most of the time if I tried, the site would break.
The search does work and there have been improvements. They are still working on things that will make finding things easier for the members. I see it everyday... they aren't giving up.
Now, for those of you that just want to bitch about whatever... it really isn't needed. Try offering some good solid suggestions that are actually going to help instead of playing "the ban game".
None of us like this but we need to approach this in a mature manner if we want these business people to actually listen. The sponsors, on the other hand, probably have more power than they think. I'm sure if they are smart about it then they could definitely use this to their advantage...

just a thought, but what about organizing them per forum on the side. meaning sixspeedsinc/M6 sponsors in the MT section and performabuilt/yank/vig etc. in the AT section, then compstar/rotating assembly sponsors in the internal LSx forum, UMI/Strano/BMR/etc in the suspension/handling section, and have the general all parts here places like WS6store/thunderrracing, etc on the main page. itll make room for the google adds on the bottom so the page wont be stretched. although having specific sponsors in the sections only wont be as cool as the old display.
