Google Ads?

Maybe instead of banning people for suggesting an alternative you guys could try to figure out a solution. Nobody is happy about this change, and for good reason. We, as users, cant make the changes even if we knew how.
I guess it is just frustration. It seems like another great site is going down the tubes.
We can set a date and have all LS1tech patriots Users, MODS, Sponsors not log in or view the website at all for a 24 hour period!!!
We all would have to unite!!!
Would this have any effect on Internet Brands?
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
We have a very strict policy against allowing non-sponsoring vendors to be discussed or marketed here. Our site advertisers pay for this privilege to market and solicit business through the site, and we have very little sympathy for non-sponsors who do not pay for this privilege.
I was joking. I realize that you were being sarcastic, and to be honest I don't really care what you think. Spamming is a bannable offense, and there's a much bigger issue here. The scumbag spammers taking advantage of it to grow their shitty site are people that deserve to be banned.
I am so glad that a moderator of this site doesn't care what the members think. BTW have fun trying to moderate when everyone leaves here and goes somewhere else because of this crap. I imagine that will be pretty fun. C-ya.
If the sponsors start pulling out, you can forget about LS1tech as we used to know it. I personally don't blame them one bit. If I were a sponsor, I'd be infuriated.
LS1tech is first and foremost an automotive enthusiast site. Once the enthusiasm is gone... what will be left? Ringtone ads and discount perscription medications?
In the direction things seem to be going, IB is going to suck this cash cow dry. Sponsors and members will leave in droves, and once it's all said and done, nothing will be left of our once almighty empire of LS1tech except for a parked domain name that you can buy at a discount rate.
The future? This will be the future if sponsors and forum members leave because our community is decimated by non-paying Google ad "sponsors":

I hope it doesn't come to that. I love this site. I'll hold on as long as I can, I won't jump the ship yet. But if the ship goes underwater... I'm getting on the life raft outta here.
I'm especially concerned about the vast amounts of tech data that's been accumilated over the years. Can we archive it onto another website if this one tanks? Or are all postings on here "property" of Internet Brands, too?
I noticed that the other day. LS1tech came up as wiki.ls1tech.com. Now there's no www. in front of it. Then I typed it into google and got that add bullshit.
I think it's a good idea. I'd be down to invest some money in a new site. It might not be much. To have a site run by the people for the people again would be great. The user resource pool here is amazing and I'm sure sponsors would love to have that exclusivity again.
+1, and it's really sad to see.
I can't wait to see google.com and IB at the race track this summer.

Being more involved at engineering spheres, I can't really speak on behalf of IB but I'm told guys here have been on the phone and email with numerous vendors.
All I can say is that this thread is being read very closely and all the feedback taken into account.
Now let me point a few things i've learned from Brains, while working closely with him, which you might keep in mind as you unleash your collective anger at IB:
- Brains was keeping this site running. For years he's relentlessly worked to field the explosive growth of this forum on sub-par hardware with limited resources, for essentially free. IB came-in and 1) got more hardware for this forum 2) re-built search from the ground-up on dedicated hardware, on a kick-*** platform to replace the 200% defunct search that used to be there 3) Actually *hired* Brains full-time, to bring value to this forum and, without going into details, the vBulletin ecosystem in general.
- Advertisers need to do what's best for them. As Brains has taught me and from what i've observed from my limited participation on this forum, they're key to the value of LS1Tech. So it'd totally suck for *everyone* to see them leave, not to mention that'd **** Brains off, and when Brains is unhappy, it generally f's my day up. So I *really* hope we can arrive at a win-win set-up.
- Brains and I had scratched our heads trying to find solutions to improve the seizure-inducing wall of sponsor boxes in the right column. I've actually had tears stream down my cheeks trying to read each one of them, and I've seen other members complain about that before we'd finally brought-back the directory.
So we began to sketch ideas for a better format, that'd give most everybody a chance at a decent placement, a more visually-pleasing approach to making sponsors information accessible to all members, from any page.
We wanted, rather want to come up with something that works best for EVERYONE. We want members to be able to find vendors. We want vendors to be able to make themselves visible and known to the members.
And somewhere in there, obviously IB's got to be able to pay the bills, make a profit, and put more money into ideas that can accomplish these basic goals.
I know it seems like we're not listening but trust me -- these words are ringing very loudly in our ears.
I guess id' rather have the google ads on the side rather than in between posts in the thread like on some sites. IMO this change is bad news for the current sponsors.
I can't wait to see google.com and IB at the race track this summer.

Thanks for your support guys.
FWIW I have received phone calls from many sponsors here today who are very disgruntled. There are some significant undercurrents. Not at all sure where this is headed.
What is important for you guys to remember is just what studderin said... they will not be at the track to support you because they are not car people.
The really sad thing is there is a distinct possibility that guys just like yourselves with familes can wind up out of work if their company cannot survive because of these changes. Many of the existing Sponsors here rely heavily on the income that this website represents. There are some stark realities here. Lots of the shops represented here are not big well funded operations, but nonetheless serve a tremendous service to this community.
