Wrecked 1998 Z28
Year: 1998
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Camaro
Price: $3750
Mileage: 133806
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (State): PA
Color: Green
Transmission: Automatic
Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive
LS Engine?: Car has LS engine
Up for sale is my Bright Green Metallic, Hardtop, 1998 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. It was totaled by the insurance company but I bought it back from them. I have the PA Certificate of Salvage in my possession signed by the insurance company. I would like to sell the car whole if possible but will part out the major components (engine, transmission, rear end) at a later time if necessary. The car does run and drive so feel free to come start it up and drive it around the driveway. This car would be perfect for someone looking to do an LS1 swap into a V6 F-Body, Mustang, 240sx, S10/Sonoma, a restomod project, RX-7, etc. It might even be possible to repair the car. I t-boned another car going 35 mph which deployed the airbags and caused moderate damage to the front end/driver side. From what I can see, you would need the following to repair the car:
Hood
Radiator
Headlights
Front Bumper
Left & Right Fenders
Passenger Side Airbag (I have a driver side airbag from another car)
SDM (Airbag module)
Frame straightening
If you're in the body repair business or know someone who is you might be able to get this car repaired economically. There's a common misconception that a car is really expensive to fix because the airbags are blown. That is a myth. I personally know that the airbag system can be restored on these cars for $100-$150.
The LS1 engine is stock but the car is modified with simple bolt on's. I've been transferring some of the parts to my '01 Z28 but there are some that I would be willing to leave on the car if someone wanted the car immediately. Right now, the car has:
LS6 intake manifold
Fast toys ram air
Aftermarket air lid
MSD spark plug wires
Mac mid length headers
Mac off road y-pipe
Magnaflow cat back exhaust
Built 4L60E built by Birocco's Transmissions in Ambridge, PA
Continental 3400 RPM high stall torque converter
Auburn Pro Posi with GM 2.73 gears (yes, that's right, 2.73's NOT 3.73's...the car gets 25+ MPG on the highway and launches with minimal wheel spin)
4 Channel rear end
UMI tubular lower control arms
EGR delete
AIR delete
With the above mods the car was consistently running 12.8 @ 107 mph at Quaker City Raceway. The service engine soon light IS NOT on as I have edited the PCM tables with EFILive to disable any SES lights associated with the various mods. I did not alter any of the spark, a/f ratio, etc. tables. If you wish, we can hook up my laptop to the car to verify this.
Like I said, I've been transferring parts to my other Z28 so I can not guarantee that all of these parts will be on the car if someone buys it. Rest assured though that any parts removed will be replaced with stock parts. I kept all of the stock parts instead of selling them off like most people do.
I bought this car in 2005 with 97,000 miles on it and it currently has 133,806 miles on it. This car was super reliable for me. I drove it almost daily and took several road trips with it to VA & OH. I also was working part time in Erie for 2 years and drove it up there frequently. This car never let me down.
Please feel free to call me at (406) 599-5684 or e-mail me if you have any questions or would like to see the car. My name is Fred and I'll be happy to show the car to you when I can. Again, the asking price is $3,750.00 for the whole car. Thanks!
