1996 Chevy Camaro Z28 -- LT1 5.7L V8 -- Automatic Trans (4L60E, 4 speed) -- 79,000 miles, Amazing Condition, Many Performance Modifications - $7500 OR BEST OFFER

Pictures can be seen at my craigslist ad:

I am the second owner of this car, I have owned it for 8 years. I purchased it from a close family friend in 2004, who himself ordered the car brand new from the factory. I know the entire history of this car, which mainly consists of being babied, stored inside all its life and kept away from rain, snow and salty roads. It is, and always has been a trophy car.

The car is in impeccable condition. No rust, no dings, no scratches. The exterior is in great shape. The interior has no rips or tears anywhere in the upholstery. The steering wheel, door panels, dash, and every plastic or vinyl piece in the interior in the car is in perfect condition. No faded or worn parts.

While in my possession over these 8 years I have made some performance modifications. I am a certified automotive technician and have installed all of these modifications personally. I can vouch for their proper installation, and functionality. These modifications have made the car into a very fun car to drive:

Comp Cams CC503 camshaft
Comp Cams Ultra Pro-Magnum Full Roller Rocker Arms, NSA, 1.6 ratio
Trickflow hardened pushrods and pushrod guideplates
Chevy LS7 hydraulic roller lifters
Bullet Valve Springs
Platinum tip spark plugs
MSD spark plug wires
Yank Stall Converter -- SS3600 with lockup clutch
K&N cold air intake kit
1LE intake elbow
Pacesetter Long Tube headers, ceramic coated, 1 ¾ inch primarys, 3 inch collectors
Pacesetter 3 inch stainless steel y-pipe (no cats)
Borla 3 inch stainless steel cat-back kit with polished stainless steel tips
Brand new AC Delco O2 sensors
Motive 3.73 rear axle gears, ring and pinion set (stock was 3.23)

PCMforless.com tuned the PCM for the car. The fuel and ignition curves have been adapted to fit the cars new camshaft and other modifications. It runs great, and has a killer idle sound, very choppy. It has never been put on a dyno but a good guess of power output is probably somewhere around 380-400 flywheel horsepower. It is quite a bit quicker than most cars with this kind of power output due to its stall converter and higher rear end gears. The car puts the power to the ground very well, and feels very quick for a car of it power level, and weight. I have taken the car to the Cordova Dragstrip, and with little driver practice the car ran 12.9's in the quarter mile. It was a very hot humid night, so I think with a little more practice at launching the car and a cool dry fall evening it is capable of 12.7's for sure. I beat several LS1 camaro's, 4.6L and 5.0L mustangs, and 400hp LS2 GTO's. Like I said, it is a quick car. I do have time slips to show if you are curious.

PCMforless also firmed up the shifts of the transmission electronically, so it shifts much quicker and firmer than the factory setup. It will chirp the tires going into 2nd gear and sometimes 3rd.

While I had the engine apart to put in all of the valvetrain parts I also pulled the heads off and installed new head gaskets. I used Felpro gaskets that were slightly thinner to raise the compression ratio slightly, from 10.4:1 to about 10.65:1. And the engine was also has a new timing chain set.

I have also tinted the windows, 35% front and 5% rear. And as you can see from the pictures I have added a very nice set of chrome ZR1 wheels, 17"x9.5" front and 17"x11" rear. The tires both front and back are very wide and great a lot of grip, especially the rears being that they are over a foot wide. They look very meaty and have a great appearance.

The car has also been installed with an Alpine Stereo Deck with a CD player, and 4 Alpine Type-R speakers. The system is not super loud, but sounds great for a setup with no subwoofer. A subwoofer could be added in the trunk with little trouble though, the deck is capable of powering one with much tune-ability.

I usually do all the work on this car myself, but recently it needed an air conditioning compressor. I do not have the special evacuation and charging equipment needed to install it, so I had Skay automotive in Iowa City put one it. So it has had a brand new air conditioning compressor, receiver dryer, and expansion valve just installed last week. This service cost $876.

This car is in great shape and is a blast to drive. It turns a lot of heads and is a very cool car. The only reason I am selling it is because I would like to eventually save up my pennies and buy a new 5th generation camaro. I have owned this car for a long time and have taken very good care of it. This camaro is all ready to go to a new home.

Asking $7500 OR BEST OFFER.

The car is located in Iowa City, Iowa.

Still a great car and is very fun to drive. Its a great cruiser, and is very fast regardless of being an auto. The stall converter adds an element that a direct drive clutch cant. Very spunky, and makes a great noise. Rpms shoot up really quick.
