Dude if the dealership offered you 16k for the car....go running back there and take that deal....in this market/economy..that is an awsome price from a dealership....look up and down the classified ad's here and just see what these cars are selling for...it's quite depressing
I mean especially at a dealership there wont be any hassle of people trying to lowball ya, trying to get a loan, people tryin to scam ya, joy riders, tire kickers....you see what i mean

It sounds like a great car. If it was an M6, I'd be interested in a discussion, but I wouldn't pay $16K in this market. I just missed a deal by one day of the perfect Firehawk for me for $7000. Yep, seven thousand dollars. And there was nothing wrong it with it. It was a 99 and higher mileage than yours. If you want to see what people really think cars are worth, watch what Hawks sell for on Ebay, and take a look at the closed listings to see what they have been selling for.
Now sometimes it's just a matter of waiting for the right buyer. The right car to the right person at the right time is worth more than it is to the average person that might be willing to compromise their wish list to get a nice car. The NBM cars are pretty popular and very rare, so you may have something special there that will bring more.
What to ask depends in part, it depends on how much time you have. If you are willing to take six months to wait for the right buyer.. you may get a much higher price. But if you are interested in selling the car in the next 30 days or so, be prepared to offer an attractive price. The economy has caused a greater number of specialty cars to come on to the market that might be there otherwise. Guys (and girls) just can't afford to hang to toys right now as easily.
I also have mixed emotions about really low mileage cars that just sit for years. Seals dry out, rubber gaskets, hoses, etc. deteriorate... and more. I bought a low mileage specialty car several years ago that just sat for months at a time or more, and it cost me more to get that car in shape than if it had five times the mileage.
You might also see what Carmax will give you for it. Their used cars are so overpriced (usually by about $3k to $5K or so for a typical car in the 12 to 15K price range) that they do offer people better money than most dealerships for a used car. But you won't catch me ever, ever buying a car from them.
Anyway.. good luck with the sale! Everybody's situation is different. A car is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay for it, no more and no less.
I'd like to have a navy blue metallic M6 Firehawk, but I just don't have $16k for a toy, so it would have to be an older, higher mileage car when I find it.

Well sorry to burst your bubble powerhouse, but 16,000 is what the manager offered us. I might take the offer up in a few weeks, we'll see what happens. I know for a fact they sold another 02 Hawk 2 months back for 22,000 and it sat on the lot for a for less than a day before selling. If I can get 18,500, right in the middle of the 2 prices, I'll be pretty happy.

I would pay $16k for this car, assuming it hasn't seen rain more than a couple times and is flawless. I'm not afriad of low mileage cars.... my '98 Z has less miles than this '02 Hawk, and I've got ZERO leaks or dry rotting, etc. So long as the car is *properly* stored and driven every so often you won't have issues. Anyway, 19k miles on an '02 isn't that low, it's not like the car is an '83 Trans Am with 500 miles....that would be something that issues might arise with.
Problem is, TX is really pretty far for me, AND, I'd much rather have a Formula Firehawk.... I'm assuming this car is a Trans Am?
Post up the pics anyway. People are always more interested in a car when they can see it.

one year ago when my buddy totaled his 01 hawk the insurance company gave him $28,000 for it. not gonna say to do that, just saying that they are still worth some money.

Just cause you paid 17,500 for the car doesnt mean the dealership did lol. They probably give 11-12 trade in. 16 for this car is a lil high ill agree with some of you its not too far off tho but it would be better priced at 16 with 10k miles or less. If the dealership offered you 16 for it i dont kow why it would still be on this site, i know id be trading it the second i heard 16 from them. good luck with sale tho hope you get what you looking for out of it.

I'd still like to see some pics of this car, and whether it's a TA or Formula.
