Default 1978 Chevy Monza LS1 $8,500.00

I'm seling my 1978 chevy Monza. I swapped in an LS1 from a 1998 Z28.
I'm selling it for $8,500.00 or best offer. I'm willing to do a trade for an 05 or 06 GTO that we could work out the details on later if interested.
The car is in Ambridge PA
It's a 1978 Chevrloet Monza 2+2
It has 55,139 miles on the body
It has a clean title
The transmission is an auto - Turbo 350 3 speed
The car is burgundy Red
Deluxe interior that is black
The car has a '98 LS1 and the brakes have been upgraded to 10.5" disc and 28 spline axles in back with a 2000 Z28 posi and 3.73 gears
The problems it has are some minor flaws in the paint (dings and a dent)
The car has not been in an accident but it has been repainted sometime before I bought it.

Picture are here http://forums.h-body.org/viewtopic.php?t=434

Thanks,

Bill

what kind of 1/4 times do you think it runs? 350hp and 2800lbs means loowww maybe high 12s?

I'm not sure about the 1/4 but it did 0-60 on my g-tech of 4.7 spinning off the line, letting up then rolling into it slowly. I think it will go low 12's with traction and I just got a set of 235/60-15 drag radials so it'll scoot.

How the car drive and run? Anything stopping it from being a daily driver?

OMG! I have a two monza's, one is a 1977 model spyder with a 305 and 4-speed and the other is a 1980 round headlight body style with the 151 iron Duke. I thought about doing this to mine, that is a very nice car!!! Good luck with the sale.

I built it to drive and race and it drives nice now I just have to race it! I have a company truck but wouldn't hesitate to drive it everyday. It rides like a subcompact with stiff suspension. Not to say really harsh but firm. People around here drive like idiots so you got to watch out. The other thing is you just don't see these driving around anymore so I get a lot of people asking "What is that?" It really could use an OD trans for long hauls but it's got a really good turbo 350 in it now. The brakes are upgraded to 10.5" discs and you could go bigger with Baer 13" discs for a Monte SS and add rear discs too. It handles good because of the light weight LS1 up front. It was a handful with the cast iron 305 it came with. I thought about doing an STS turbo on it or a maggie but thats if it doesn't sell. It's a nice ride that could be a real fast handler or drag strip terror.

98-LS1, You should give it a try. The LS1 fits really nice.

Thanks

Bill

i respect all the work you have done to your car sir ,but feel it is over priced..there was a ls2 vega on here that was in alot better shape paint and body wise for less money...you have to admit your stongest selling point is the motor and all your hard work...the body wrapped around it is just icing on the cake. i am a huge vega/monza fan myself ,but most people do not share the love for these car that we do !....vega's and monza's just do not command huge dollars .aside from a grumpy's toy [ex pro stock vega]on barrett-jackson...i understand all your time and hardwork in this car ,but i do not see anyone offering you more than 5,000 dollars for this car as it sit's...but best of luck to you in the sale of it..hope you get close to your price.....

thanks for the honest opinion. I have a lot more in it then what I'm asking. I seem to think it's priced fair but it only sell if someone is looking for this car. I'm not in it to make a profit just move it out of my garage so I can get onto other projects.

thanks,

bill

chevysol73,

the vega you looked at is going for $12,000. Is that the one you were looking at in NY?
Just curious.

if it is orange with a white stripe that is it ,you may be correct i thought that car had an asking price of 7,000 dollars that might be another ls swap vega i saw on e-bay a few months ago....sometimes my mind doesn't work as good as it used too.i may have confused the prices on the two car's.......

Yes, thats the one. Nice car but it has it's faults. I follow H-bodies pretty close so I have a good gauge on what they sell for. Mine, I think, is fairly priced. It needs cleaned up and a few little odds and ends but I'm fixing them as I can. I might just end up keeping it and buying another project anyway.

Thanks,

Bill
