Default FS or Trade for LSX: Well Modified '87 Buick Turbo-T Limited, 32k

Pull out your reading glasses, I'm all about detail.
Pictures begin in the second post.

Location: Canton, GA

What I'm interested in for trades: C5 Corvettes, LS1 Trans Ams, LS1 Camaros
Cars must have leather, cold A/C, a manual transmissions, Targa Top or T-Tops, and be in nice condition overall. I don't want projects, I don't want something that needs work for me to enjoy. I don't want a turbocharged or supercharged car, but nitrous is fine. My main interest is C5s or WS6 Trans Ams, but I do see a Camaro that interests me every now and then.

Trades + Cash for lower valued vehicles are fine. However, I do not have the cash to trade up.

What I have...
Make: Buick
Model: Regal Limited, Turbo-T : 1 of 1,035 produced.
Mileage: 32,373
Exterior: White and Chrome
Interior: Burgandy with Bench Seat/Column Shift
Options include power windows, power locks, concert sound, tilt, cruise.

Details below..

There is no rust on this car.

I just put a re-built PowerMaster brake unit in the car from Advance Auto Parts with a lifetime warranty.

I give the interior an easy 8. Seats are perfect, headliner is perfect, visors have some sag. Dash has zero cracks.
I give the exterior an 8 as well. The paint is original and as expected with a vehicle of this age has some imperfections. However, it's the best 80's paint I've seen and the imperfections are so slight I cannot even get them to appear in photographs.

Car went through a complete change of set-up this past winter and was just recently completed. A detailed modification list can be found below.

Parts marked with ** have exactly 260 miles on them since build completion. The bottom end of the motor was rebuilt at about 29k by the previous owner. Turbo and Torque Converter both have in the neighborhood of 1k miles and were bought used. Most of the other mods have mileage in the low, single digit thousands...some are unknown, but all are in good condition.

Things you would like to know...
Larger cams are known for snapping stock rocker shafts with these cars. It happened after about 150 miles on this set-up. The only damage was the driver's side shaft. I put a set of hardened stock shafts in the car that a friend had laying around and they have done well so far, but a set of roller rockers would definitely be a good investment.

The torque converter seems to be bad (probably bearings) and has developed a nice whine to it in gear, not Park or Neutral. I contacted Pat's and was told it's $150 to cut it open and inspect and we go from there. If it's repairable, the total should be under $200. They can be contacted at 610-237-6900 for exact pricing confirmation. I highly doubt the transmissions is the issue, the car shifts and drives fine. I mentioned the problem and was advised by another vendor for transmissions and converters for these cars that the symptoms point towards the converter as well.

A/C needs re-charging, it blows slightly cool- not cold.

Valve Covers have slight oil leak, not enough to smoke or cause oil level issues...just enough to leave it's mark like most Turbo Regals do.

Power antenna does not work.

The car has a clear title and registration, the car was re-vinned by the state of GA many years ago due to being a theft recovery and has salvage history which causes a mileage conflict on CarFax as a result. The car was not damaged, smashed, or parted. It was missing for more than the 90 days and the insurance company recovered it after they paid out on the claim.

Car is tuned well enough to run on the new set-up, but pig rich and not nearly as well as it could be. However, well enough to walk a bolt-on LS1 T/A from a slow roll by about 6 cars easily . Everything is there to do it, I just haven't. You can log with the wideband and LogWorks software and adjust fuel and timing through the MAF Translator and even more so on the chip through the ScanMaster.

That's really about it. Everyone that has seen this car has said it's one of the nicest examples of these vehicles they have seen. Any doubts on the mileage due to the interesting history are easily cured once you see the condition of the car. It even won the Ride of The Month contest on GMHTP's website about a year ago

Price: I'll value the car at 15k obo as it sits. If I were to decide to fix the converter and tune the car I'd be putting it up for 18k obo, I realize time is valuable and doing those things would take time.

Why I'm looking to sell or trade: I miss shifting, I miss having a V8, and I miss being able to take corners decently. I'm also looking to get away from turbo vehicles as this is my 5th. The Buick is an absolute blast for cruising, car shows, or the drag strip but it's just not what I want anymore.

Recent detailed pics, please excuse pollen as it's Spring in GA and nothing can be outside for any more than 10 minutes without getting covered. Click thumbnails for larger pics.
Small note: Car has nice new Taylor wires that replaced those dirty old Magnecors in the pics. Knock gauge has been removed and replaced with the wideband gauge.

No love for the Buick...oh well. Looks like I'll be trying to round up some money to deal with the converter this week. Still open to all offers.

Bump for Tuesday morning. Plan is to pull the converter tomorrow and send it off for inspection and hopeful repairs instead of getting a new one.

Holding off on selling/trading at the moment. Trans is going back to be checked out tomorrow and I'll have a new converter and roller rockers on the way shortly.

Edit: New 9 1/2" Billet Vigilante Non-Lock Converter and 1.55 Roller Rockers on the way. Trans is at the shop to be checked out and have non-lock valve put in. This will be a completely finished car within the next week or two to be put up for sale again ready to go.
