'95 LT1 head/cam swap
This past weekend we did a heads/cam/intake/header swap onto my buddy's '95 z28 A4. Nothing crazy...Comp XFI 224/230 cam, mildly ported stock heads (347 castings) w/ 918 springs, 1 3/4" Hooker Super Comp long tube headers. We used Mr. Gasket .026" head gaskets to bump up the compression to ~11:1. We used all new gaskets, fresh fluids, new plugs, and torqued everything to spec. With all that we were changing, we decided to drop the motor to make things easier. Just thought I'd share some pics (unfortunately we got wrapped up in the work and didn't take any picks of the engine with the new heads and headers ).
Took two days to complete, car fired right up (at 4am with open headers ), ran and sounded great! I quickly adjusted the Comp Pro Mags while the engine was running (only way to do it IMO). Had to bleed the brakes, then the owner took it for a test drive and then later to the exhaust shop to put the y-pipe on. It doesn't sound so good through his stock muffler, but he's going to get a cutout soon. Once he gets a tune, 3000+ stall and ditches those 2.73 gears for some 3.73's, he should rip!
