Default Best tires for a limited budge???

So I'm in a pretty tight spot financially, and have been putting off getting new tires for my car. The tires definitely need to be replaced, which I learned the hard way driving in the rain the other day...

I'm going to put the tires on a credit card no matter what, but I'm sick of racking up debt. Right now, I've got Kumho Ecsta ASX (I think) 275's up front, and 285's in back. They were pretty good tires, especially for the amount of driving I do. (about 300 miles a week, give or take)

So ideally, I'd like to spend ~ $500, less if possible, but obviously don't want to buy some crappy tires that'[ll need to be replaced before I know it. What do you guys recommend in terms of tire, and where do you usually get them from? I heard Discount Tire won't mount tires that aren't purchased there anymore, so I'm not sure if I should go there or buy 'em online...

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

275 Sumitomo's for all 4 corners. They are a decent tire and lasted me nearly 40K (2.5yrs) on my last car.

NITTO NT555R 275/17 $128 a tire (rears)

and SUMITOMO HTRZ 275/40 $75 a tire

grand total: $406, with mount and balance should put you under $500

Which ever tires you get, get them the same size all the way around and then you can rotate them regularly.

Not if he wants them to last any amount of time on a DD. Their mileage ranges dramatically and the more heat cycles they see the faster they turn hard and lose their sticky characteristics. At 300 miles a week (14k/yr+), not counting recreational drives/races/etc. He would deff be replacing them in no time.

I have seen as little as 1200 miles on a set before they were trash yet as much at 8000 miles on the set right after. So i would chalk them up to an unreliable tire for DD duties.

print this up and take it to discount tire, you have to be a hard *** when it comes to them "price matching" they will want to add tax and all this other junk. Like i said be stern and don't be afraid to go to other places to see if they will price match.

Tire rack deal comes out to 403.62 after shipping. Then he would have to pay another $40 to have them mounted and balanced.

The plus side to ordering them online is no Fed/state fees for disposal of old tires.

So you can save the $60 dollars in shipping, but you have to work them hard to get them to come down that much. I didn't care how big of a Jew i looked like lol.

^ ya i also picked up 2 goodyear sport tires i forget which ones but they were well suited for our cars. They were $85 mounted balanced and installed, they had 2/3 tread left and they got rid of my old tires. They were from a place called Bears tires in mira mesa.

Riken Raptors are also cheap performance tires and wear very slowly. I have over 45k on my 16" Riken Raptors and they still have at least 1/3 tread left.
