Need recommendations on local machine shops in SoCal - Stock LS1 engine assembly
Hey guys,
I was curious if anyone can point me in the direction of a competent machine shop that would be willing to clean, hone, spec a stock LS1 block/piston/rod/crank assembly and re-assemble the block with new bearings/rings and the only aftermarket part would be ARP rod bolts.
It's a very straightforward setup, nothing fancy, nothing crazy, I just want to make sure all the tolerances and specs are as perfect as can be, as I will be using this motor for road course duty and I don't want to have any errors or sloppy work done to it.
I was quoted by a Central Cali LS1-based shop around ~$250-$350 in labor / machine work and around ~$350-$400 in parts. The only reason I don't go to them is the fact that I have to make trips back and forth which are $$$ in gas, and it was suggested by them to look a bit more local as well.
Thanks!

Not to hijack this thread, but I need a 5.3 completely stock motor built, too...I dunno about CMS because they're a performance shop and I'd feel like I was wasting their time because it's for my dads van.

Hey Ryne,
I've actually met you once before, I had the silver 3rd gen RX-7 when you tuned my buddies 2nd gen LS1 RX-7. I've actually called the shop on more than one occasion, but I never got a response to my messages or calls. I'll try calling again, though.
