Ive never seen wear patterns like this before. I def know its not supposed to be like this, and has anyone ever run these pistons? I payed for a "forged" motor and have sealed power aluminum pistons, stock rods, what looks like a stock crank and clevite bearings. Id say I got FAR from what i payed for![MAD](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_mad.gif)

I noticed both sides of every piston has wear around the oil rings at the top of the skirt. Im pissed and will be making a few angry phone calls tomorrow
Main caps and a bad #4 bearing, but then again no bearing really looked anything other than horrible

The shop i take my corvette too which is a well known shop sent the motor to their "#1 engine builder"
shame is i could have had a FI 408 or 427 for what i paid

no it was a "forged 347" i havaent takent measurements yet tho. the block is an iron sleeved aluminum unit. the wear is all similar at mid skirt and then at the top of the skirt. Some is just worse than others.

Im no expert, but I might suspect oil pump failure. Or perhaps low oil pressure. Oil doesnt get to the skirts or doesnt have the pressure to float the assemby and then you end up with scratches all over the bearings. Obviously resulting in engine death.
Just my thought.
Then again: I just looked at the crank again, maybe they didnt balance it and just slapped it together and then the off balace crank started grinding everything and throwing it out of wack.

If you look in the Ls1 internal section there is a thread in there were someone has the same kinda wear like this. Even the same pistons. It was posted a while ago so you gotta search it.

I have seen wear like that on the skirts of the pistons but it seems to not be as consistent... check the bore size vs the size of the pistons and tell us what the tolerance is... I'll be able to tell you whether or not the bore is to large. It seems like thats what the problem would be... I have coated pistons which wear almost the same way but they are very consistent with the wear not thick wear in the middle light else where... Also what was this motor used for? nitrous blower turbo? makes a big difference on what the pistons to wall clearance should be... Sloppy is not always bad... also have you played with the rings at all? like spinning them around? cause if you haven't on one of the pistons they were not right... they should be 180 from each other... as far as the bearings thats another issue... pictures of the crank? the bearings are toast all of them... can you run your finger nail across any of them with out being stopped by wear? also any marks on the cylinders that stop your from going up and down or side to side?
