Shortblock is toast! Need advice!

Shortblock is toast! Need advice!
Hey All!
I have a dilemma and I need advice!
One of my valvesprings let go a few months back at the track and it ended up bending a few valves... Long story short, the heads have been fixed and the setup is going back together with a bigger cam and FAST 102 intake.
The car is at CMS getting put back together and they found out that one of the lifters came apart and fragged the lifter bore, so the block is toast!
My dad has a stock ls1 motor from a 99 vette in the garage. I am thinking of buying that from him. Since I don't know how good this motor is, I want to have it rebuilt, and as long as I'm doing that, I figure I might as well stroke it to a 383...
I'd like to go with a ls2/ls3 stroker short block (402, 408, etc), but I just don't have the cash for that since they start at over $4000!! (at least on the texas speed website)
So my options are:
#1 - buy the stock ls1 short block from my dad and put it directly in my car. (cheapest).
#2 - buy the stock ls1 short block from my dad and have the short block rebuilt, and /or stroked.
#3 - find a rebuilt short block from someone on ls1tech and hope to get a good deal.
This is a head/cam car that will making close to 450 rwhp.
What do you guys recommend?

buy lq4 or lq9 short block ,ls3/l92 heads since ur buying a fast 102, should be close to 500rwhp.that was my plan but i scored a good deal on an ls3.theres some l92 heads in the classifieds.

To cut costs on a LQ9, you can always nab a LQ4 (usually a few hundred less) and toss in a set of stock LS2 rods/pistons. The only issue with the L92 heads are the HUGE valves, which limit cam size.
Or you can bore it .030 over and toss in a set of forged rods/pistons (370ci) with valve relief pistons to use the L92 heads. Just remember to get the correct intake and your set.
If you go for the later of the two a LQ4 is sufficient, no need to spend the extra $$ on a LQ9.
Oh yeah and since you asked earlier, the iron blocks are a direct bolt-in with one exception, the the Alternator side only has 2 of the 3 bolts used on the f-body accessory drive. The boss is there, it just needs to be drilled and tapped.
