Are we sure we aren't confusing this with current laws? It doesn't sound different than what's currently on the books.

If you use a P.O. Box it has to be registered with the DMV and it must show on your license. Just move to Lake Tahoe, right on the stateline. Very nice.

I was thinking of the dual benefit of not having to pay state income tax.

Hey Hey guys you dont have to worry to much in CA, you guys are taking it to the extreme. First of all they are mostly targeting imports (and mostly Hondas at that). The cops are trained to find illegal modifications done to Hondas and Acuras. Second, there are special taskforces designed to do this. They go around an look for cars that look like they can be even modified and like i said earlier mostly Hondas. Second they dont have random smog check stops, they just pull you to the side and make you pop your hood and see what you have. If you have anything that may look or is not smog legal, they give you a referee ticket. I have talked to 3 cops in the "street racing taskforce" and they have all told me the same thing. This is what all three said. "Mostly the cars we are targeting are these little imports, when they got popular awhile back, the deaths from street racing have gone way up. Also when we do go break up a bigger street race, it is usually 95% imports and probably 5% domestic. One of the cops told me personally, that if he popped my hood, he wouldnt even know what he is looking at, but on a Honda, he knows some stuff to look for" Third thing (which is suppost to be a secret that got out is, that each cop that gives a referee ticket out gets an extra $50 in his paycheck). Well that sums it up. Almost forgot, if you tell the truth to the cop, sometime they will let you go and just tell you to fix the problem.

care to go into details? I'm glad my LS1 is in a '67. I can grin as they look at my race headers, catless X-pipe, 2 K&N filters, and removed emissions equipment. California SUCKS!

Dont believe that extra $50 on his paycheck. People would be sueing the $hit outta any PD department that had any sort of clause for that.

I don't have a Honda, and have been pulled over and almost had my car impounded. They aren't just targeting imports. There are literally TONS of guys in my area that have been pulled over for no reason and sent to the ref. When pulled over the cops have said that they are trying to get ALL of the modded cars off the road. It's getting to the point that you have to literally sneak around in a car with any mods. I've even heard of people with CARB legal shorties getting sent to the ref. They were told that even though they have a CARB #, they still have to go to a ref to get it sorted out. Even CARB legal aftermarket parts can get you hasseled and sent to the ref in good old CA!
