Default 4l60e Rebuild In Socal?

Well, I no longer have a 2nd gear, so I guess it is time for a rebuild. Any one have any good recommendations? It needs to be able to hold up to 600rwhp.

truthfully I'd buy a crate GM one I have no faith in ANYONE on a 60e. They're like 1500-1600 wholesale but come with 3 year 50k mile warranty.

The 60e is not reliable at that power range. I had mine in and out five times in a year. If you are making that much power it is time to look into a different transmission. The lighter the car the longer the trans will last. I had to swap to a 4L80e to get away from the every other month transmission failure. The gm crate would be great if they would warranty it, but no dealer is going to fix a part under warranty on a highly modded car. Not unless you have a hook up at the dealer.

4l80e might be an option, but I am unsure how to even fit it to a GTO. I am not going to a th350, or 400. I like my overdrive.

dude call rodney @ rpm transmissions, he will send you a tranny with no core charge, he builds awesome trannies, he the guy that builds most of the hi-po autos for the vette guys, i know cartek uses him and eb02 on the gto forum uses him and he ran tens with it using sts kit., plus he is priced pretty good

yeah RPM is one I would check out also.

RPM, Rossler, FLP, performabuilt (newer) companies i havnt really seen any complaining with and seem to deliver awesome products. RPM/Rossler only ones doing transbrakes on 60's

There site says $1795 plus shipping both ways. Performabuilt is $1600 shipped with no need to send them mine. If I can't find anyone local, I will most likely buy a performabuilt. Although I would rather walk into a shop and do it i person.

the dealer will let any "repair facility" do the install so you can have a friend's shop install it.who says they got to know about mods? .

hahaha.

If a 4l80e fit easier, didn't require so much extra cost plus added weight, I probably would have went that route.

th400 w/brake only set me back maybe 1700 for EVERYTHING (stall, driveshaft, tranny, misc) but i did the work myself too...
