i live in MA and just got my first speeding ticket in NH. I was going 84 in a 65, but the cop brought the ticket down to 80. He said "I already helped you out so if you take this to court i will bring the speed back to 84". I don't know if he was just trying to scare me because he didnt want to show up for court or what. My question is, if i take it to court, but keep pushing the date back, won't the cop notice the his court date keeps getting pushed back? Also, if i go to traffic school do you think my rates will get hit? I am paying $1400 a year right now (18 years old) and i could care less about the $150 fine. I just don't want my insurance to skyrocket. Should i try to get out of the ticket first or just go to traffic school? Thanks

Ok, So almost a month and a half ago, I get pulled over while being the designated driver behind the wheel of my best friend's car. They thought i had been drinking as well but I passed the full gamut of the sobriety test. But I received a ticket for speeding 10mph over the speed limit (45 in a 35) and for not signaling. (I was actually doing 65mph but he gave me a break and wrote down 45mph instead). Throughout this whole time my friend and I were sitting on the curb in handcuffs while we watched them search the car for parafanalia. My friend, in his all out wisdom, decided to have them pull out his iPhone and show the officers a total of 53 photos of his fully nude, stripper gf and about 37 photos of his other "conquests". The officers were amused, smiling and giggling as if they were still fighting puberty. After that they were super cool with us, sharing a casual conversation with us and eventually after an hour and a half they released us to carry on our merry way.

Typically your supposed to receive a letter in the mail with the information needed to pay the ticket and what the ticket amount is. Its been well over 21 days and I still haven't received the letter. I called the West Los Angeles Superior Court today and went through their automated system, entered all my information and the citation number and ...NOTHING! After that I went through their Online Website and repeated the same and again,... NOTHING. The citation seems to not even exist or be in the system. I still have a court date on the original yellow copy of the ticket for 5/27/08 but I'm wondering if I even need to go in at all. I'm assuming that the cop cut me a HUGE break and didn't even enter the ticket at all. ....

Thoughts, opinions or first hand knowledge? ....Is there even a ticket to pay?!!

I need someones opinion/advice. Saturday I was riding down PCH with this chick (on a Ninja ZX-6R). We came to a red light and she split middle, and I split right. Well, to my luck, a sheriff pulls up to the red light caddy corner to the right and points at us to pull over. Long story short he says we were speeding, we think we can do whatever we want because we ride motorcycles, blah blah. Takes our information, comes back to us. Starts saying, "You guys were going like 50 or 60 mph in a 40 zone, do you have an excuse for that? that's unsafe." Anyway, he keeps saying all this BS, so, finally he said we were going 50something and I asked, in a nice manner, "Do you have it on radar?", this guy procedes to tell me "oh, so you must want a ticket?", goes to his car, writes me a ticket, while he is writing it, asks the girl if she wants a ticket too, she says no, he gives me the ticket. Says, "Ill see you in court, and we'll see if the judge agrees with my 15 years of experience that say you were speeding".....again, "ill see you in court", with no reply from me. I get home, look at the ticket, and all it says is Speeding, doesn't say what zone, or how fast I was going. (then of course passing on right, which im guilty of), but anyway...

My question is, because he didn't write down the speed zone, or how fast I "was" going, I should be in the right, correct?

Thoughts, opinions, advice, please!

Seems like he might have hooked you up. I'd just go to court, if they don't call your name. Act like you showed up on the wrong day and bail outta there. That way, if for some reason it does finally hit the system, you'll be safe cause you're in court already. Plea not quilty or whatever and your're set.

Very true. As soon as I asked if he had it on radar, and he started to write me a ticket. I didn't say another word to him. Just to spite him. I'll definitely be fighting this one. Well 1/2 of it.

Makes ticket #13 for me, and pulled over 29 times.

He said he saw us from Encinitas Blvd speeding down 101.

Just used maps. From where he pulled us over, to where Encinitas Blvd, is 1.9 miles. How on earth could he know how fast we were going, in traffic, on the 101, 2 miles from where he was? I work in Geography and seeing 2 miles ahead of you for a car speeding could maybe, MAYBE, be feasible, but not a motorcycle. 2 miles is a stretch for what he said.

hell ya, i beat two this year so far by trial by declaration, one for 57 in a 40, and one for blowing a stop sign. Sucks that you gotta surrender the bail to do this tho, i just won another for 110 on the freeway, extended it twice, mandatory court appearance and cop didnt show. My dumbass friend has 3 speeding tickets from his bike and he didnt do **** with them, he ripped up the notices and even got a warrent, on his mandatory court appearance, him and the cop didnt show so they all got dismissed. Sooooo much bullshit since i actually had to try.
But **** ya cops are lazy!!!!!

I'm sure they know of it. It's a strategy that lawyers/attorneys use all the time. They probably just get sick of dealing with it so they dismiss it.
