Default Coming from Texas...going to LA for first time...

Going to be my first time ever in California. Me and my best friend (hooter's girl) are coming to hit up a lot of the night life. What are some of the better bars/clubs to hit up. I'm not looking for like bottle service type places, more the low key chill places.

Also, which beaches to hit in that part of the state? Someone told me Huntington Beach???

Also, is there a nice set of hotels in that area, around the nightlife spots?

Thanks guys for any help

well first off where abouts might you being staying. obviously being your first time driving a little extra probably wont be such a big deal.

as for bar hang out area I would have to say newport beach, irvine area. there are some nice hotels around the area.

I may be partial but I am kinda a big fan of downtown fullerton about 5-7 different bars within a 1-2 block area.

As for beaches I would say corona del mar is pretty cool and laid back, IMO huntington beach is dirty.

Where are you flying into? LAX?

Venice Beach has a great Freak Show and Santa Monica is Very Touisty. But for a local thing I highly recommend Hermosa Beach (20 min south of LAX) Hot *** chicks! Gorgeous Beach and good Bars.

For Nightclubs you would have to go to Hollyweird or Sunset I think.

The others mentioned are in Orange County, a bit of a drive south (not distance, Time, damb LA Traffic)

Hermosa my recommendation. Best combination of all everything you could want - people, music, comedy club, always something going on. Newport can be snoby and expensive, Huntington is not dirty (especially compared to the waters of the gulf coast) you'll have fun anywhere you go.

I like the Newport area at the end of the 55. Someone help me with the exact streets b/c I only know it by sight.

I also had a great time down in Hermosa Beach. I stayed at the Hampton Inn (1530 PCH), walked about a mile to where the bars were at (straight down Pier Ave), grabbed some good food, lotta drinks. Plus there is a liquor store right at front of the strip before the beach, so you can brown bag it (discreetly) to be on the cheap side. The Poop Deck had great deals for a bar near the beach too. My kinda place.

The LA area is like 400-500 square miles. There are too many cool places to list. We could do more if you had a general area that you would staying in or around.

For beach, I'd say Newport or Hunington.

Where from Texas are y'all from?

(Lived in Austin for 9 years, Dallas for 1, Louisiana for 11.)

I totally forgot about hermosa/redondo area they have a great night life by the hermosa beach pier. Plus the beach is also pretty nice.

and another upside is Hermosa beach has one of the largest ratio's of people who list model as primary occupation per square mile!

If you decide to go up as far as Zuma you may as well go to Leo Carrillo.

I'm at Hermosa pretty much every weekend, it's got a classic beach town atmosphere and some decent (but pricey) bars right off Pier (although they're guaranteed to be crowded with USC alumni *AHEM*).

Santa Monica is touristy but the pier at sunset makes for a damn romantic evening (trust me).

The whole Palos Verdes area makes for a good sunset cruise too.

For beaches, i'd say Huntington Beach or Zuma (both have good surf)

as far as bars, HOLLYWOOD baby!! I even work at a little bar near H-wood. If you're interested in hanging out and hitting up a bar or 2 let me know. I'm always down for a drink and a cruise!
