Hi guys, I need some feedback on this ASAP.

I have been searching for a clean 6spd WS6 located in my home state for the longest time.

I finally found one where the owner didn't back out on the sale. Its a super clean completely stock 02 silver WS6. Everything checks out on the Carfax.

It is a one owner car. The owner wants 13.5k for it and he is pretty firm on that. Says he wont take anything less and he is in no rush to sell it.

KBB on it is 11.5k private party and NADA is 13.7k retail value.

Do you guys/gals think that's too much given it has 82k miles????

For another $3000 you could get a clean C5 with ~80K miles. Price is about $3000 too high. Even then I personally would pay over 10K for a WS6 with that many miles.

Christ, can't you get a clean C5 with less than 80K for 13? Regardless, F cars with that kind of mileage shouldn't be fetching more than 10K, and that's being VERY generous...

Too much money! Just look in the vehicle classifieds and you can get a highly modded car for that!

It's really what it's worth to you. Yes, it a little high, but if you have plenty of money and want that particular car, it's your decision.

I think I was able to talk him down to 12.5k, and I feel even though many say it's too much many of you guys may be out of touch with the values of the cars.

Hecc, they bluebook for one of them is 11.5k in good condition with 82k miles in my zipcode in Cali. For the car being a one owner car, no mods at all, and immaculate condition top to bottom, factoring how rare it is to find them in decent shape with all of my criteria (m6, 2002 year only, Black/Silver/Blue color preference in that order, black interior only etc etc) I'm starting to feel that 12.5k could be fair based on everything factored in. Also they are much more easier to find back East, out here in the West it is slim pickings for a clean REAL WS6.

Now from the standpoint of someone just looking to buy any and any car, of course 12.5k might seem like too much.

I know mine is not a WS6, But I bought mine back in September I bought my 2002 for 12.5k with 51k on the clock bone stock and M6. Very clean inside and out and one owner from a dealer. Just some food for thought. No need to rush into a deal, Altho I do not know your postion on buying a new car.

If you are not willing to travel, then you may end up paying more than you should. Getting him down $1,000 sure helps but I hope you realize that in a very short 18,000 mile tiime frame you will own a 8 or 9 year old car with 100,000 miles on it. Good luck getting a good sale price if you need to sell. You asked us for help and we replied. You didn't like our answers and say we are out of touch? Nice. I'll give you an example of what is out there if you were willling to travel and spend a few hundred dollars in gas and cheap motels. A fellow LS1 member in VA just travelled to Ohio to pick up a truly 'near mint' 2001 SOM T/A with 10,000 miles (yes, 10,000 miles) for $15,000 out the door. That's basically a new car for just $2,500 more than you are willing to pay. Your choice.

I have to agree with the original poster that some of you may be a little out of touch with these cars. Not trying to "argue" just saying. It is an 02, it is a WS6, it is clean from what he has said....I think 12-12,500 is decent. Heck.....my 98 with 61K is worth around $10-10,500.(Just going on what they bring around my area)....so even though this one has more miles, it is an 02 and a WS6.

Some good points that you make about if I need to sell it down the road, and I have thought about that already. I don't plan to, but yah never know. I appreciate the responses in getting feedback, the more I thought about it and looking at the bluebook, it seemed "out of touch" when folks say it's not worth over 10k.

Traveling to get the car, thats money for a plane ticket/gas if your driving back /more miles on the car driving back. If I had the time and the funds to do that, I would. Some very clean cars back east, unfortunately I cant do that at the moment. California sucks when it comes to the volume of these cars for sale right now compared to back east. The chances of finding a near mint 10k mile car for under 20 grand is slim to none, and $2500 dollars more isnt loose pocket change either. Lets keep it real.

Yes you're right its my choice, obviously. I just wanted some feedback from enthusiasts such as many of the folks on this board.

Friend of mine has his dealer license and a red '02 WS6 with 85K miles, 6spd car, T-tops, loaded went for 8600 over the stage today. Granted that is wholesale, but the guys price is too hi. They had an 01 SS with mid 40K miles go across for 7700.

You are typically going to pay a little more for a Firebird vs getting a Camaro. EVen book to book there is a decent amount of difference, with the advantage going to the bird. I believe this is largely due to the fact that there is a new 5th gen Camaro out. Same can't be said for the Pontiac guys.

I wouldn't pay more than $10.5k for that WS6 with that many miles unless it was a SOM or NBM and than maybe I would pay $11k.

But if you were to look out of state, a bus ticket to anywhere in the united states is $150. Say you went 1000 miles and get 30 miles to the gallon (I get 28-32 mpg in my auto z on the highway with 3.23 gears). You would only spend $100 on premium gas on the trip back at $3 a gallon. Add in $25 bucks in food and drink and one $50 dollar a night motel if necassary for one night only. Thats only $325 round trip to get a car for $2500-$3500 less and would take less than 3 days. What do you mean thats not feasable?

I think Time is a big issue for me as well. You're right, someone could probably take the greyhound and do all of that you mentioned if they were trying to cut cost to get out there. Is it practical??? No! Have you ever thought what would happen if you invested all that time to take a bus halfway across the country only to find out the car isn't nearly what it was describe to be as??? That's also one of the reasons why I would hate to travel 2k miles taking someones word and photoshopped pictures of a car.

The bottom line is this...even back East/midwest, they are hard to find in the sub 10k range in good condition given my criteria, based on my recent searches on Autotrader/craigslist.

I almost locked up a 55k mile NBM m6 WS6 for 11k in mint condition. Then the guy realized he liked the car more than he was willing to admit and totally backed out of the sale.

I paid 11k for my som ws6 with 71k. It already had a cam and longtubes with a ory plus a 3200 stall.
I think 13.5 is on the high side.

I think a lot of you who purchased these somewhat low mileage, super clean WS6's in the 10k range were just flat out lucky. Show me these cars!!! I see them running well into the high teens and even in the 20k range on Auto Trader/ Craigslist. Bottom line is majority of them are not in the 10k range. That is FACT!

Of course I can probably buy some ragged on WS6 with, faded paint, and it might not even be a REAL WS6 from some dealership across town.

But that's not what I am going for.

I'll agree with you there I've seen plenty of WS6's and even just Trans ams and Formulas around were I'm from with 90k+ plus miles for more than 15k dollars I'd say 11 or low 12 would be decent price if its in good condition and has no bad incidents people look to much on mileage these day and why is because most dont know how to treat a car right and change the oil and use the right kinds I know plenty of ppl who own 200k plus miles cars are still running strong.
I just bought a 2002 Formula with 64k miles good condition, no accidents for 9800 dollars thats was a good deal consider most would want at least 14 or 15k around here for it. also remember its an 02 the last year, one day it will be worth alot. that just my two cents.
